Daryl’s grip on his gun tightened as he and Kyle stood in front of the safe house. The old apartment building was dark and silent, but Daryl’s instincts screamed that they weren’t alone. “This place looks abandoned,” Kyle muttered. Daryl wasn’t convinced. “Let’s check inside.” The door was slightly ajar. Someone had already been here. Daryl signaled for Kyle to cover him as he slowly pushed it open, gun raised.
