Eden’s Point of View
My heart raced in my chest, as I walked down the hallways heading for the art room, half of my brain screaming at me, wondering if I am doing the right thing or I am just trying to get myself hurt or in trouble.
Me: Tell me who you are at least.
I texted the unknown person again, and they sent another text almost immediately. Unknown number: Your guardian angel
“f**k that,” I muttered underneath my breath. “Angels doesn’t exist.”
My feet stopped, realizing that this might just be a trap, I should probably leave, before something bad happens to me.
Me: Bye.
Unknown number: Are you sure you want to miss out on this?
I bit down on my lips.
Unknown number: You could discover something life changing.
Me: Or you could hurt me!
Unknown number: Lol. You’re so vulnerable, I don’t need to drag you out so far to hurt you. Just trust an angel on this one.
I sucked in a deep breath. “Well, this is ridiculous,” I muttered under my breath, “but I’ve already come this far.”
I rounded the next corner. The art room was at the end of the dimly lit hallways; I could hear my own heartbeat as I pressed further stubbornly.
My eyes darting around cautiously.
“Argh!”
A girl’s sharp, anguished scream sliced through the quiet, followed by a heavy thud and low, pained grunts.
My heart slammed against my ribs. My feet froze just inches from the door.
Someone was in danger.
From the way the grunts keep coming, it seems like they were being attacked.
For a split second I was paralyzed—torn between rushing to find help and bursting in to stop whatever was happening.
“Ah! No—” Her voice cracked again, desperate and raw.
I should get help.
Right now.
“Oh yes!” A deep, masculine voice groaned, thick with lustful passion. “f**k, you’re so tight.”
“Yes, baby—”
Wait… what?
My eyes widened, blinking quickly; not just because the girl, I’d feared was in danger suddenly didn’t sound like she was anymore, but because their voices, even ragged and breathy, were familiar.
“Arch those hips for me, baby,” the man growled low.
I crept forward on tiptoe, heart hammering, until I reached the cracked door.
“Oh, yes, Thorne.” Her voice broke into a sharp, ecstatic cry.
My blood turned to ice.
Thorne…
It wasn’t a common name.
In our entire school, there was only one person called Thorne—Thorne f*****g Adler.
My boyfriend.
My heart clenched painfully as I watched them through the narrow gap in the door,
Thorne had Evangeline pinned against one of the wide drawing tables, her legs spread shamelessly. His pants laid in a puddle around his ankles; her skirt was bunched high around her waist. Her head was thrown back, her breathing guttural like a wild animal in heat, as he drove into her.
Evangeline… my half-sister.
The betrayal was sharp, thick, and suffocating.
I felt a thick lump formed in my throat, and I just stood frozen in the hallway with my body and mind numb, unable to decide whether to scream, run, or simply disappear.
My vision soon blurred, and tears rolled down from my eyes.
“That b***h doesn’t even know what she’s missing,” Evangeline giggled breathlessly as Thorne shifted, driving deeper with a brutal thrust. “Hoarding her p***y like its f*****g gold. Uh—oh! Hngh.”
“f**k that b***h,” Thorne grunted, hips snapping harder. “I bet her p***y wouldn’t even come close to yours.”
“Yes… oh, right there—don’t stop!”
I stumbled backward, lungs seizing.
This had to be a dream.
A nightmare.
A sick, twisted one.
I shook my head, my knees buckled as I attempted to walk away, my lips began quivering, so did my entire body, threatening to collapse at any point right there in the middle of the hallway.
So, I ran, as if I was about to outrun the betrayal that weighed heavily in my chest, I ran as fast as I could, my vision blurring, tears flinging out of my eyes as I did.
I crashed through the first random classroom I found; it was an abandoned music room; one the school hadn’t used in a while.
My hands clutched the front of my shirt tightly, and I just allowed the tears pour out of my eyes. I sank to the floor against the wall, knees drawn up, my body shaking as sobs tore from my throat
I sobbed loud, and shamelessly, my heart breaking all over again as I tried to make sense of it.
Why would Thorne even cheat on me? Is this because I refused to have s*x with him? Why Evangeline? Why her?
And Evangeline… why her? Of all people, why my half-sister?
How could Thorne even do this to me?
I had always complained to him about her, I told him that she would eye my things and would stop at nothing until she takes it from me--she did that with my clothes, my toys, my gadgets, anything that was mine, and that she liked.
But to think that she would do the same thing to the boy I love?
To my boyfriend?
I sobbed even harder and louder.
My body shifted slightly when the door suddenly opened, and my eyes snapped up—wide with worry that I was about to be a caught by a teacher.
But instead of a teacher, I noticed the dark silky hair and silver eyes that belonged to Theron, my heart twisted painfully. My hands quickly reached for my cheeks, instantly wiping the tears from my face.
I hopped up from my feet, trying to pretend that everything was fine.
My mouth opened to ask him what he was doing here, if he was lost, or his way somewhere or he was following me—but then he was quicker than me.
“You clearly didn’t take my surprise well.” He muttered, placing a hand on his chin, and his eyes scanned me like I was some kind of experiment—one he was too pleased with because his lips curved into a smirk, and my eyebrows furrowed together.
The word surprise, echoed in my ears, and then my eyes widened in realization.
“You…” I accused pointedly.
“Yep. You’re welcome.”
“Welcome?” I asked my voice breaking again, more tears finding ways into my eyes. “I wasn’t thanking you!”
“Well, you should.” He shut the door with a loud thud, stepping further into the room, and I scooted backwards. “I just exposed your cheating boyfriend and sister to you.”
“You’re the guardian angel?” I thought to ask again, and he shrugged, not necessarily answering. “How did you get my number?”
“Is that important right now?” He muttered nonchalantly. “What is important is that Thorne isn’t the perfect boyfriend you always believed him to be.”
“That’s the reason you lured me there—just so I could see my boyfriend f*****g my sister?” I knew Theron was a jerk right from the start, and even right now, as he stared down at me, there was no flicker of remorse or regret in his eyes.
I’m certain he would do it again in a heartbeat.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” More tears rolled out of my eyes.
“Of course, I f*****g am.” He admits shamelessly. “Now that you see Thorne for who he is, I dare you to talk back to me when I call him a f*****g piece of trash—I dare you to defend him again—I dare you to tell me he loves you and he would never hurt you.”
My body shook from the fresh wave of pain that hit me.
“f**k you.” I gritted out.
“And I have told you—you keep saying that and I might take you up on the offer.” He steps closer, c*****g an eyebrow at me. “Is that what you want Eden? For me to f**k you?”
I need to leave.
I have to leave… My brain was screaming at me to leave, but how do I leave when Theron’s big body was blocking the only pathway to the door?
“You know something, little rabbit?” Theron muttered darkly, his voice calmer now as he neared me. “I want you.”
My breath hitched and my eyes following his every moment; I have seen how his stare lingered on me, ever since he came here. Those cold silver eyes tracking every move that I make.
“You can’t want me,” I whispered, fear choking my voice as I backed into the desk behind me.
Can he stop coming closer to me… “I’m your—”
“My brother’s girlfriend?” He finished for me; his upper lips curved into a smirk. “Isn’t that the same boyfriend you’re crying over, right now?”
I wiped the tears away from my cheeks.
“He cheated on you, didn’t he?” I couldn’t ignore the mocking glint in his eyes, as if he was trying to remind me. “With your sister.”
And it made me unable to speak or look away from those sharp silver eyes, the kind that watch something die and feel nothing.
“This is none of your business,” I hissed, finally mustering the courage to shove past him. My shoulder collided with his chest.
“A pretty little thing like you shouldn’t waste tears on garbage like my brother.” He wondered mockingly.
I felt a cold shudder run down my spine as I gripped the door tightly.
“I can help you,” Heavy footsteps rattling behind me as he stepped closer. I know I shouldn’t listen to him; he is bad news, everyone says so; I know so.
I should leave, but I didn’t.
I was filled with the pain of betrayal; it made me interested in his offer.
“How?” The words were barely a whisper as they escaped my lips.
“Use me.” He leaned in my face. “Hurt him back by using me.”
