Chapter Three

Veronica's eyes widened and her breath shortened, pupils enlarging with fear. Lucy was already here wasn't she? Or better yet, was it the man? "Veronica, hey," Helena snapped two fingers in front of her face, her eyebrows furrowed. "Its Lucy, my love. It's no one else, I checked." Joe paced in back of Veronica, scratching his head. "Why did she come here? Wasn't she just joking?" he sighed. "This just doesn't make any sense..everyone always freaks out at us and Veronica!" Helena then joined in, trying to calm both of her friends down, "Joe, stop it! Your making matters worse! Can't you see how bad Veronica is shaking? Your terrifying our listener!" Veronica held her pounding head in her hands, tugging at her hair. "Joe is right, why did she end up coming? No one comes to see me! Everyone leaves me! No one likes me!" she cried, curling up until her back ached. "Everyone always leaves.." she sniffed, voice cracking and tears slowly making their way down her flushed cheeks. Helena's eyes drooped down, blinking slowly while seeing her listener cry, combing Veronica's hair out of her face. "Hello? Is any one home?" a voice sounded from the closed wooden door, "It's me, uh..Lucy, remember? You didn't get to tell me your name yesterday, and I made a promise that I would come to see you! But, um..if you don't want to talk, I completely understand, I can leave--" "N-No!" Veronica yelled, responding to Lucy while drying her face, "I-I'll be right th-there..!" Joe screeched, "What the f**k, Veronica?! What if she is a spy for the man and she came here to capture you?! Now your dead, oh god, your so dead--" Joe cried, Helena making her way to the demon and slapping him, "Dammit, Joe, shut the hell up!" she hissed, grabbing his ear, "Veronica, honey, we will be in the other room listening, okay? You go ahead and talk to Lucy, we are right here." Helena reassured, then pulling on Joe's ear, making him yelp. Veronica took in a deep breath, nodding with closed eyes, then getting up from the place she sat on her couch and made her way to the door. Now you see, Veronica has always been such a hopeless romantic, so anyone that shows care for her, she will immediately fall in love with whoever. A man once tried in her sophomore year in highschool, but strangely enough, she didn't fall for him. No, she was already hooked on a certain woman with the name of Stephanie Gomez. Stephanie had beautiful light hazel hair with green-brown eyes. Typical, right? But to Veronica, Stephanie was extremely gorgeous to her eyes, as to others..but it wasn't long before she tried to communicate with the woman. Of course she didn't say straight away that she liked her in more ways than one, but when that day had come, Veronica became the laughing stock to every highschool there was in New Jersey. They even labeled her as 'The Gay who couldn't win' so people knew who she was in public. It ended up becoming so bad during her years, which led to an option of suicide. She had tried many ways, but the main ways being 'overdose' and 'cutting the wrist', and it wasn't such a good idea when she ended up in the hospital for her actions. Then the day came when she had to take three different types of medication for her mental illnesses. One was 'Depression', the other was 'Insomnia', and the last one being 'Paranoid Schizophrenia'. Sure, she could say she had the first two, but the third one seemed impossible to her. Just because she could talk to spirits made her crazy? Hell no. But the spirits that stayed with her are Joe and Helena, and they have helped her through many tough situations. Veronica licked her lips nervously, opening her door and seeing Lucy's face with a bright smile. "Hey! I was wondering when you were gonna' open the door!" she laughed, her eyes wrinkling in the corners as she smiled. Veronica bit her lip, tugging at the skin in habit. "Well, um, how come you wanted to see me? Why are you even here?" Veronica questioned when Lucy stopped laughing. "First off, your beautiful and second, I just really want to get to know you." she winked. Veronica's eyes widened with a small blush forming on her cheeks. "So your name is..?" Lucy urged on, making Veronica snap out of her flustered state. "O-Oh, It's Veronica..Veronica.." she trailed off, staring into Lucy's eyes. She really did have beautiful features.. "Oh, that's a gorgeous name! My great grandmothers name was Veronica," she smiled, then continuing, "May I come in to talk with you?"
