Ross took advantage of the warrior's momentary confusion, striking it with a series of swift and deadly blows. The warrior tried to defend itself, but Ross was too powerful. He fought with a speed and ferocity that I had never seen before, his claws slicing through the air with deadly precision.
Finally, the warrior had had enough. With a defeated yelp, it turned and fled into the maze, disappearing into the darkness.
Ross stood over us, his chest heaving with exertion. "Are you two okay?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
I nodded, still trying to catch my breath. Brielle lay motionless beside me, her body battered and bruised.
