“Yes,” said Principal Morrigan. She checked the time on her wristwatch. “I'm afraid I have another engagement soon, Aurora. We can always pick this up later.”
“Yes, of course. Thank you for your time, Principal Morrigan.” I picked up the book I'd borrowed from the library, and started to rise.
“Have you considered running for the Gauntlet?” Her voice was soft and calm as usual, but I could hear a little bit of optimism.
I nodded. It's not like I had a choice in the matter. Besides, she never said I had to win the Gauntlet or anything. I just had to participate to prove that Inwas serious about retaining my studentship status at Alchemia. I had nothing more to prove. “Yes. That's one of the reasons why I'm researching.”
