Chapter 3

1009 Words
Aurora “Yours? What are you people talking about?” I asked, looking between both sets of twins, who had forgotten about the airheaded Derek and were now caught in some kind of quiet staring competition. I could feel the powerful aura rising from their wolves. “You must be delusional if you think she belongs to you. Does she look like your property?” One of the ‘light’ twins said. “Does she look like she's complaining, sunshine?” replied the more vocal of the twins with dark hair. Alright, I needed to learn their names. “Who are you people? What are you going on about?” I looked between both groups of brothers. Derek muttered something underneath his breath and sulked away, having clearly met those obviously stronger than he was. And I couldn't blame him; their aura combined felt so dangerous that I had to keep subduing the influence of my wolf, who simply wanted to just cower at their feet. “I'm Francis, and this is my brother, Grayson,” Francis said, looking almost enthusiastic to be introducing everyone. “These two are Ross and Damon.” He leaned in a little and whispered, although it was still loud enough for all of us to hear. “If I were you, I'd stay away from their bad influence.” I had nothing to say, except that their words previously kept running through my mind. How was I theirs? I couldn’t feel the mate bond for either of them. Was this the practice they observed here in Alchemia? To claim the new girl because it was fun? Ross growled at Francis, baring sharp teeth. His eyes flashed with a distinct red colour hardly seen on normal werewolves. “She's our mate.” “No, she's ours,” said Francis, his earlier cheerful demeanour dropping to reveal seriousness. “Stop playing around with the poor girl.” I stepped out of the way as Ross and Francis closed the distance between themselves, looking like they were going to start throwing hands at any moment. The classroom erupted into loud chants, with some people in support of Ross and his brother, and the others supporting Francis and Grayson. I looked at the clock. We had less than an hour to spend in detention, but I couldn't stay here any longer. I felt like they were trying to make a fool of me, because there was no way that four guys could be mated to one person. Also, I was an Omega, and the truth beat painfully inside my rib cage. Who would even want to have such a weak mate such as myself? I moved over to my desk and packed up my things quickly, trying to control the way my heart was beating out of control. This was all just some strange prank, and I wasn't going to fall for it. The class had become so noisy and rowdy. The guards were definitely going to come around soon to check what the issue was, and when he did, I didn't want to be anywhere close. Without further thoughts, I slipped out of the class, hearing some snickers and laughs that were clearly meant for me. — I rushed to my dorm room, both relieved and anxious. Relieved because I could finally catch my breath. And anxiety that I had missed the punishment given. I just hoped that Mr. Brown was going to have mercy when he checked the attendance later because I really didn't want to start off on a bad foot with any of the staff. As I walked over to my bed, I finally realised that I wasn't alone in the room. I had moved in earlier than her, so I didn't expect to meet anyone else inside. “You must be Aurora,” she said, putting down the book she was reading. “I'm Stella.” She smiled, revealing a slight gap between her front teeth. She was beautiful, with blonde hair and blue eyes that somehow managed to remind me of people I was trying not to think about. I nodded, unable to properly form words. “Are you okay?” Concern laced her voice. I nodded, going over to my side of the room, taking off my outer jacket, and settling down on my bed. Still, those twins didn't leave my mind. I still felt nothing towards them, so why had they referred to me as their mate? Sleep came to me too quickly, and my questions got lost to the abyss. The next day came, and thankfully, I didn't have any classes. Stella went out early, leaving me alone from early in the day. But before I could truly bask in solitude, there were knocks on the door to my room. I felt that perhaps Stella had forgotten something, and opened the door without much thought. My heart practically jumped into my mouth when I saw Francis and Grayson standing in the doorway, looking like angelic visitors from another world. “Please, go away,” I said, overly self-conscious of the fact that I was braless, wearing a simple tank-top and some shorts. “We come in peace,” said Francis, handing me a black box tied with a shiny ribbon. “What do you want?” I asked, awkwardly holding the box in my hands. He didn't do it intrusively, but since I left the door open, Francis and his brother stepped inside, but didn't go beyond where I stood. “We might have come on a little too strong yesterday, and we're sorry. Give us a chance to make it up to you—there’s a party happening tonight, we could get to know ourselves better.” I almost scoffed. A party to make up for whatever they had done? I shoved the box back into his hands. “I'm not interested,” I said coldly, pushing both of them out of my room. “Just leave me alone.” I slammed the door in their faces.
