CHAPTER 21

'Where have you been?'

Emily was startled to see Kai in the master's bedroom. He was standing beside the glass door leading to the balcony.

He was still wearing his suit and so Emily thought that he was just a few minutes ahead of her. She lost track of the time and so she just arrived around two hours later.

'I just went out to grab a coffee.'

She put down her mobile phone and the baby figurine on the mini table beside her side of the bed.

'With whom?' He asked menacingly.

She shuddered a little when she saw that he was in a very bad mood. She opted not to answer and to evade any confrontation, she stood and went to the bathroom.

When she came out, he was already seated on her side of the bed and he was holding something.

The baby figurine!

'Put that down,' she said.

Kai was holding the figurine on his left hand.

'With whom?' He asked again.

'That is none of your business.' She didn't take her eyes off the figurine. Kai noticed it, too.

'I think it is my business. Have you forgotten my conditions?' She didn't like the sound of his voice. His bristling anger was not a good sign.

'No, I haven't. I did not go out with any man, Kai. Albert is my best friend! He's not just any man!'

Kai stood with the figurine in his hand. He walked towards her.

'Emily, have you forgotten? I don't want my woman to be with any man even if he is her best friend or what.'

She raised her head and looked defiantly at him. 'I am not your woman. You know the reason why I'm here.'

Kai smirked at her and he looked at the figurine he was holding. Emily felt fear in her heart when he closed his palm over it.

'Give it back to me. Please.' She begged him.

Kai smirked dangerously at her. 'Why? Did he give you this? A baby figurine? Poor guy, he doesn't know what you're capable of doing to a baby, huh?'

'What the hell are you talking about? Give it to me now, please.' She tried to take it from his hand but he gently pushed her away.

'Remember this, Emily. You will not receive any gift from any man while you are still with me. Do you understand?'

Without waiting for her reply, he strode away from her and went to the balcony of his room.

She frantically followed him.

'What are you doing? Please, give it back to me!' Tears started to form in her eyes. Somehow, she knew what he was going to do.

He seemed oblivious to her cry.

She saw it all.

She saw how he threw the baby figurine on the sidewall of the balcony. She saw how the tiny pieces scattered on the floor. She saw the broken pieces of her baby figurine.

He turned to her and saw her pale face. She walked past him and slowly lowered herself on the floor to pick up the broken pieces.

She couldn't stop herself from sobbing. She hadn't cried for quite some time but today, her tears were flowing nonstop on her face. She didn't even care if Kai was there to witness her weakness.

The tears that she had for her baby that she had kept for four years had started coming out.

She cried for her unborn baby. She cried for the unchanging realization that her unborn baby was like the broken figurine- unwanted by its own father.

So, she cried and cried.

Kai was looking at Emily while she was crying and picking up the broken pieces of the figurine.

He suddenly wanted to say sorry but he was too pissed

She went out with Albert regardless of the fact that his condition was for her to stay away from any man.

Instead of answering him, she chose to focus on the figurine that he was holding, just because it was given by Albert.

She did it all for Albert.

It was only right that she be punished for it.

but looking at her defeated figure, he wanted to hold her and say sorry.

But he was too proud to do that and so with a heavy heart, he left her.
