Afterword The March MethodThere are twenty-two full-length novels in the Milo March series, plus a handful of stories. Sometimes mystery buffs who have read one or two of the novels expect Milo to work by means of deduction from clues at the crime scene or other physical evidence. I’ve read a number of reviews that either complained that there was “no detection” in a novel or praised it for having “more detection than usual.” But, as Milo explains in many of the books, his method is not like that of other detectives: “All this business about deduction is a lot of nonsense. There are only two ways to solve a case. One is by plugging hard work, and that’s not for me. The other is to start pushing and wait to see who pushes back. That’s my system, and it’s always worked pretty well.” Milo m
