Third Person’s POV:
After almost two days of staying at the resort, they finally returned home.
The vacation was enough—now it was back to reality again.
Tristan needed to return to Manila to attend to the work he had to finish.
Lyndsay felt that Tristan was an extremely busy man.
He never wasted time and always had daily goals—things that needed to be accomplished.
Lyndsay had wanted to go back to Manila with him, but Don Manuel asked if she could stay a little longer.
As much as possible, the Don only wanted one thing: for the married couple to remain in the mansion.
This was also the reason why, instead of staying in Manila as husband and wife, they had no choice but to grant the kind request of Tristan’s grandfather.
Lyndsay thought that maybe this was one way to bring back Tristan’s affection for Marcus.
She only hoped it wasn’t impossible… especially now that she felt like Marcus had bad intentions toward her.
Yes—bad… wasn’t it bad that he still kept her name in his chest?
Wasn’t it also bad the way he kept looking at her secretly?
She was already Tristan’s wife.
And she was sure of herself that in the end, she would remain loyal to her husband, even if at first their marriage had only been for the child she was carrying.
And since they still couldn’t fully leave the mansion yet, she was also forced to transfer her prenatal checkups so she wouldn’t need to travel far.
Tristan belonged to one of the most well-known and prominent families—finding a doctor for her treatment was not a problem for them.
Lyndsay felt like she was worlds apart from Tristan. She never imagined that their paths would cross in such an unexpected way.
Although she was sad that Tristan would need to stay in Manila for almost a week, Lyndsay had no choice.
She knew it wasn’t healthy in a relationship to stop him from freely doing his work.
They had already been in the Leviste mansion for almost a month, and soon she would be entering the fourth month of her pregnancy.
She gently touched her stomach and felt a slight dizziness.
She was nauseous again. She thought she had already gotten past morning sickness, but it seemed like her baby was still keeping up with it.
Tristan had promised that he was already planning to build their own house.
In fact, he had already spoken with an architect, an engineer, and even an interior designer for the construction of the house they planned to start soon—though possibly after she gave birth, so they could focus on her pregnancy first.
As for the location—whether in their hometown or in Manila—they still weren’t sure. But Tristan said he preferred somewhere closer to his work so it would be easier for him to travel back and forth.
Besides, she didn’t want to be in the same house as Vanessa and Marcus. Even though the mansion was huge, she still felt her movements were limited.
Awkward…
And stressful…
She was uncomfortable, and even Tristan, who was from here compared to her, also didn’t seem at ease.
That was something she still needed to figure out.
What exactly was going on between the two brothers, Marcus and Tristan? Why did she feel like there was no closeness between them?
As if there was a huge wall separating them?
Tristan didn’t know anything about her and Marcus, so she was sure that wasn’t the reason… there was something else.
As his wife, she felt like she should know everything about Tristan.
Several minutes had passed since Tristan left.
Lyndsay decided to go back to bed after escorting him to the mansion gate.
When she returned to her room, she noticed that the door was open, even though she clearly remembered closing it before she left.
Suddenly, she felt anxious.
She quickly opened the door—and that’s when she saw a familiar figure inside their bedroom!
Marcus!
“My God, Marcus, what are you doing here? This is not the first time you’ve entered this room… don’t you understand the word privacy?” Lyndsay said angrily, her voice trembling with frustration.
Her heart felt like it was pounding in her ears!
Slowly, Marcus turned around from where he was standing by the window.
She was grateful that the mansion’s glass windows were tinted and closed at that moment, otherwise one of the maids might have seen them.
“Do you really have no intention of doing anything except stressing me out? Look Marcus… I just want to have a simple and happy life with your brother, so please have mercy and stop this!” she said, feeling her anger boiling over at the man in front of her.
“Come on, Lyndsay Antonette… have you forgotten? You promised me… you said we would talk… just the two of us!” Marcus said as he stepped closer until their faces were almost touching.
He cornered her against the wall, placing both of his arms on either side of her, trapping her completely.
Their faces were so close now.
She could feel his chest rising and falling from deep breaths. She could see the intense emotions in his eyes.
Bold…
Burning…
Terrifying!
But Lyndsay refused to back down. This man had no right to demand anything from her.
“We are talking right now, Marcus Gabriel Zamora… there’s nothing else left for us to discuss!” she said calmly as she pushed his arms away from the wall to break free from his hold.
“I love your brother, Marcus… I’m not like you—shameless and thick-skinned. If you think you can still get to me like before, you’re wrong. I’ve already moved on… I hope you do too,” she said flatly, staring into his eyes until he was the one who looked away.
She saw Marcus’ shoulders drop, sadness slowly filling his face and eyes.
He turned around and walked toward the door.
“This will be the last time you do this, Marcus. Next time, I will tell Tristan everything about your shameless actions whenever he’s not around. We’re only staying here for Lolo Manuel and Mama Loisa… but don’t worry, we’re already planning to move somewhere else… far from you and Vanessa!”
When Marcus finally left the room, Lyndsay rushed to the bathroom. Her stomach had been unsettled for a while, but the stress from her ex only made it worse.
This madness with Marcus needed to end.
Tristan needed to know everything.
