"Sorry Sir but secretary Jack come and took the file yesterday and asked me to give you this " she handed him a piece of paper with a message.

"What's this young lady? Is this some kind of a sick joke" he fumed. He couldn't believe that it has come to William's attention that he has been making Amelia do his work all this time.

"Woman you better go up there and come back with that file. I don't know how you will do it but you will before the board meeting" he thunder and left her dumbfounded.

He knew that he was down for. If William's secretary took that file yesterday it's possible that William knows too and as for Amelia she will regret crossing him.

William's office, his eyes were blazing with fire. How can someone misuse his power and position to get his work done. He was angry at himself for not noticing this earlier and at Amelia even more for not reporting him.

*Ring ring*

A sound of ringing phone jolt him back. He picked up "If you are about to joke today, don't I'm not in good mood" he warned with a stern voice sending chills down the caller's spine.

"Mmh fine. I want an assistant and I have someone in mind"

"Mmh. I hope is not one of my trusted men because it's a big no"

"The candidate best suits this position Will. She has been with in this company for a long time. Let her prepared everything before my arrival"

"Whatever. I gotta go now" he hang up and pressed the intercom. "Bring me Ms Smith"

Amelia was in canteen with Winnie during lunch time, they ordered salad with orange juice and sat at the back.

"Ammy that man threatened you with you life, why can't you tell the police about that?"

Amelia had told Winnie about what happened earlier that day and all the threats of Mr Gray.

"I don't think he meant all that" she said eating her salad.

"Amelia Smith stop turning blind eye on everything. Not everyone in this world think like you and your children are the living proof of how dangerous and evil people can stood so low for the sake of money and Mr Gray is one of the villians...

Look Ammy if you can't tell the police at least tell my husband or maybe you can tell Mr Walker yes... You said Mr Walker has been good to you these past few days. If you tell him he might deal with this issue differently" Winnie advised.

Lord know how he hate that man's guard. He is so arrogant and his appearance scream notorious. On the other hand Amelia is quite and down to earth, she never talk back at people so how could she let her got entangled with such man.

"Fine I'll do something about it"

"Ladies" Jack greeted behind Amelia. "I'm sorry to disturb. Miss Smith, Mr Walker asks for you"

"What?... Okay. Win see you later. Please led the way secretary Jack" she bid her good bye and left with Jack.

Along the way they didn't talk even a bit. Jack was a man of few words than Lucas. Lucas would ask questions and make sure to easy the nervousness.

*Knock knock*

Jack knock slitely and open after the respond. He led Amelia in and walk out soon after without saying anything.

"Good afternoon sir. You asked for me" she said swallowing a hard saliva.

"Yes. Sit" he gasture for a seat and sank into his big chair. "Ms Smith in which department do you work in?" He asked with a stern yet deep voice.

Amelia was taken aback by the sudden question. Did he really what her to answer that question or? she asked herself before opening her mouth to answer but William cut her.

"You are a receptionist Ms Smith. You work in front desk so I'm wondering why would a receptionist do CMO's work. A mere receptionist stay in at night and risk her life for a director who galavant and do clubbing instead of working and submit fully. How long has this being going on for?"

"Sir..."

"Not today Ms Smith. I'm not in the mood for petty apologies. Explain to me why are you doing Mr Gray's work" he thundered.

"Sir... Mr Gray made me do all of his work and if I didn't he would always threaten me with my job knowing that I don't want to loose it" she explain in a low tone yet William could hear clearly.

His brows knitted together so hard. So Mr Gray didn't just slack off his work but he is threatened Ms Smith and yet this woman never reported him even once. What dump woman he ever met. He pinch the skin between his brows in defeat. He didn't know what to do with this woman anymore. She just keep leaving him speechless all the time. What a rare species. He thought.

"You know what forget it I'll deal with this later. Ms Smith I called you here because there is no one better than you for this position" he slide a contract documents infront of her.

"Our COO has personally chose you to be his assistant based on your records. You are required start as soon as possible. Jack will assist you to adjust. We will find a replacement for you at reception. Till then you will do double job"

"Please sign the contract and give it to Jack he will do the rest. You are dismissed"

Amelia hurried to the door but Winnie's words make her stop her tracks and turned and look at William.

"Mmh" she cleared her throat.

"something else?" He asked.

"Mr Gray has threatened me to retrieve the files from you and make sure you haven't seen it or else he will make me pay" she said not daring to step forward.

"Rest assured nothing of that sort would happen. Leave him to me"

"Thank you sir" she walk out bumping into Lucas who was heading to the 20th floor.

"Congratulations on your promotion Miss Smith" he smile at her.
