Chapter 1 -Gypsy-

1925 Words
Nino scratched her calico cat behind the ears. Gypsy purred happily. Nino continued to watch Marron glumly from the window in ber spacious room. She hated this room. It was upon her father's spaceship. She would rather be back on Earth, her home planet, which neighbored Marrvon and Jachur. She hated moving back and forth between the ship and Jachur every other week. Marrvon had been created by her father, or rather he helped build it, like many before he had been for thousands of years. It was nearly finished; the soil was in place. The atmosphere had formed and the weather was starting to form. Soon, when more plants and physical features formed, animals would be placed, and hopefully, new ones would evolve. Then the construction would come, and civilization would take place. Her father, Overlord Sain Betelgeuse, was already in control of Jachur, and had been for three years now. He had won the war, and placed his close friend Lond Hector Lundgren to watch aver Jachur for him. Lord Betelgeuse wanted to expand his kingdom, Marrvon was the perfect place to start. No one had any claims to it yet, and so far no one abjected to Lord Betelgeuse making it his own. He wasn't exactly evil, but heals wasn't exactly nice. He hated mistakes and disobedience. He was known as the "Dark Lord" because of the lack of pastel colors in his wardrobe, although his eyes were brighter than the sun's reflection on the water. Nino's were even brighter. She had plenty of colors in her wardrobe, and she was simply referred to as "The Dark Lord's Daughter, although people seemed to like her much better than their new Overlord Nina didn't like this. She wanted to go home to Ireland. As expected, her father wanted Nino to see things his way, to turn to his side. But Nino kept refusing. She wished someone would do something to try and stop him, before he made a terrible mistake, Mino loved her father and didn't. want to lose him, partially because he was the only flesh and blood she had left and also because he was the closest tie to her mother, Esme. But she still wanted the good people of Earth or Mars to try and stop him. They instead were acting oblivious to what was happening, just like they did during the h*******t. Although this wasn't nearly as terrible, to Nino's relief Her tutor, Rigel had pointed this out to her. Nino thought about Rigel. Her father had spared his life during the war, because of his intelligence and education. He also needed someone to tutor Nino, as a proper lady-in-training should have. Nino liked Rigel. He often joked in his own serious and demeaning manner, Nino thought he said very funny things, and often asked him to explain and repeat what he just said in terms that she could understand. She didn't care for using big words such as "aristolochiaceous" or "deoxyribonucleic": She also thought he looked a lot like Count Dooku from Star Wars Nino smirked. Gypsy continued to purr loudly and happily. Nino sighed. A quiet knock sounded on her door. "Come in," Nino called. Lillian walked in and respectfully bowed. "Lord Betelgeuse wishes your presence, Milady." "Alright. Thank you, Lillian." Nino said to her maid. Nino sighed again and got up out of the chair. Lillian had already left the room Nino placed a quick kiss on Gypsy's head, who mewed. in response. She righted her shirt and skirt, along with the long, flowing cloak before starting. She was amused with the ways of her dress. Her father told her it started back on Earth, when people began to mix partial medieval and modern gothic. Sometimes she would dress completely in medieval style or completely in gothic, but today she mixed the two, something she did more often than not. She walked down the corridors, all matching shades of shiny black and gray marble and linoleum. The onyx-black marble below reflected Nino. For a moment, she admired herself, for she was often told that she was a replica of her mother, save her eyes. Her hair flowed in thick, silky-soft, luscious waves to the middle of her thighs. Her lips were a perfect double-curve, her nose simple and straight-neither too long nor short, perfectly thick and dark eyelashes curved upwards around her eyes, and her eyebrows were beautifully dark and perfectly as y arched. Nino smiled to herself and entered the chamber that lead to the audience hall where her father was usually found. The guards stepped aside when she reached the huge doors, and pushed them open for her. She smiled her thanks and entered. The room before her was the largest on the ship, and the most adumbral. The wall furthest away was almost a semi-circle, and nothing but a huge window, through which she saw both Marvon and Jachur, along with billions of stars, and the faint glows of galaxies, Nino continued down the long, black velvety strip of carpet leading to the pedestal where her father's throne was. The carpet was so thin, that Nino's steps had muffled echoes, but she knew that if she bent down to touch it, it would feel as if it were the softest and thickest material in the world. When she reached the steps of the pedestal, she slightly bowed at the waist and spoke *Father, my presence is granted." "Ah, Nino! My cherished daughter!" Lord Sain was as happy to see his daughter as ever. Nino regained her stance as her father placed a welcoming hand upon her shoulder. He smiled. Nino loved to see her father smile. He was very handsome. His chin-length, golden hair was pushed backward, the way it usually was. His face represented that of a god, even though he was in his mid-thirties, and he kept his face shaved. "I called you here to tell you that we will only be here for two more days before we set off for Jachur again. I know you hate moving around so much, but I thought you might want to know ahead of time instead of it being a surprise." Lord Sain explained. Nino nodded ance. "Thank you, Father. But must ask, what is your plan for the people of Jachur, when Marvon is completed? Or when you tire of them?" "I will exterminate the old, the sick, and the weak. It's best to start afresh." Her father replied. "I've told you this before" "But what of their special possessions and stories?" Nino asked. "Their possessions will be given to their family, of course. As for stories... Aren't you a little old for them? "Okay, memories then." "Why do you care for their memories, dear "Because-um...because of un." Nino couldn't think of an explanation. There was no point in arguing unfairness. "Ah, see? Don't worry, my child, all is and will be well." Lord Sain comforted Nino said nothing, and only looked down. She wished her father would understand. There was nothing she could do on her own "Lillian is packing for you already. No need for you to worry about it. Oh, and we will be on Jachur for a month, so take whatever you might like for entertainment. Or I can order you whatever you may like, no problem." Nino nodded and turned to leave "Oh, and Nino?" Nino looked back up and turned. "Please try not to be so miserable. This will be over soon." Nino smiled, and was surprised to find that it wasn't fake. Lord Betelgeuse smiled and turned to the window. Nina shuffled back to her room, and ran into her friend Tiko along the way On, Nino, hello Milady!" Tiko exclaimed Tiko and Lillian were the only two that didn't address Ning as should when they were alone Nino preferred it that way. Although Lilliendid it out of habit, as she was taught by her mother Alla who cared for Nino's mother. Tiko was careful to address her properly around even the guards and other maids and butlers, Luckily she hadn't slipped up yet Tiko and Lillian had always been sino's friends since she was a toddler. Lillian was twenty-three and resembled a lily of the valley, probably where her name had come from. Her com silk hair was nearly white, and was kept at a perfectly straight line with her shoulders. She had pale blue eyes. She was mostly quiet, but did like to have fun and explore She was also very loyal to Lord Betelgeuse, and Nino didn't mind at all. But what confused Nino, was that Lillian referred to Lord Betelgeuse as Sain when they were alone. Tiko did the same, but Nino just referred to him as Father. Lilian was petite but surprisingly strong, in willpower and physically! Tiko, on the other hand, had bouncy and curly chocolate-colored hair halfway down her back Horeyes matched her hair, and she had a small beauty mark similar to Marilyn Monroe's above the left corner of her naturally rosy lips. She was almost like a Janus mask, only both sides were happy. When she was around Lord Sain, she was quiet and respectful, acting like the servant that she was. But with Nino of Lillian, she was funny and talkative. Lord Sain knew of Tika's friendship with Nino, and luckily didn't try to separate them. But then again they were much closer than Lord Sain know "Hello Tea." Nino returned the greeting She placed a mask of happiness on her face, so Tiko wouldn't ask what she looked so miserable for *Guess what? get to come with you this *Oh Tika that's wonderful!" Nino exclaimed. "I know: Sain thought you might want some company, and so he suggested I go tool I'm so excited. Jachur is such a beautiful planet!" The two entered Nina's room, Nina and Tika sat upon Nino's bed, and Tiko began to pet Gypsy "Gypsy: "Tiko stretched Gypsy's name in a taunting manner. Human-like Gypsy looked up at Tika, still "I brought you a gift!" Tiko exclaimed, and pulled out a small, block collar from her pocket. Nino smiled. Tiko loved Gypsy And Nine believed that Gypsy loved Tiko as well. Tiko slipped the small black piece of velvet around Gypsy's neck. Nino could see small, oval moonstones embedded in the velvet. Gypsy mewed as if to ask "how do I look?" "Oh, darling you look gorgeous!" Tiko said in her best 'high-society lady' accent. Gypsy mewed again and Nino giggled. "You're welcome!" Tiko said. "Thanks, Tiko. She loves it." Nino replied. "I knew you'd like it too, so I also found a bracelet, just like it!" Tiko pulled out yet another velvety strip with small moonstones. This one had a small silver clasp on each end. "Oh, Tea, thank you! You didn't have to do that!" Nino smiled as she fixed the bracelet around her wrist. It was beautiful. "No problem. Just a small trinket. Well, anyway, I just came by to give you and Gypsy those, and to tell you the news! I have some work to get back to so I'll see you later!" Tiko said and hopped up. "Bye, Tea! See you later!" Nino said. Beside her, Gypsy mewed. Tiko waved and left the room. Nino turned to Gypsy. "Our gifts are beautiful aren't they?" Nino asked. Gypsy nodded, and closed her eyes, tucking her paws into her chest. "Just like the memories of the people on Jachur, I'm sure..." Gypsy only softly mewed in response.
