A Son for a Son

**Trigger warning- mentions of miscarriage and a***e** (Four months later, Emma is now 8 months pregnant.) (Carter) My c**k throbs as a pair of plump red lips slide up and down the shaft, sucking me in perfect rhythm with her hands. “Mm yes, just like that. Fuck.” I groan and spill my seed down her throat. She sits back on her legs, wiping her mouth clean. “So do I get the job?” She asks earnestly. I do need a new secretary after firing the last when she decided to mention to a friend of hers that we had been f*****g. Her friend ended up telling Amber, my wife, who had a fit about it and forced me to get rid of her. I felt bad for dumping my mistress’s body in the ocean, it seemed wrong not to give her a proper burial after all the pleasure she had brought me. “I’ll have to give you a call back to let you know, your interview was alright but your appearance needs some work.” She was beautiful but all I could stare at was the way her stomach rolled when she was bent over my d**k. The woman’s face contorts into a frown and I scoff. “What, are you going to cry? Go eat another cheeseburger you fat b***h and get out of my office.” My wolf, Maddox snarls at her, speaking through me. You need to quit being unfaithful to our mate. She deserves a loyal man to care for her and our baby. I roll my eyes. Amber knew what she was signing up for when we married. I told her I had an insatiable appetite that one women can’t fill. Amber is a goddess and you treat her like a peasant. Maddox argues. It was true, Amber was the most beautiful creature I had ever laid my eyes on. Her skin was perfectly tan and her golden blonde hair was so shiny in the sunlight. She was an aspiring model working as a flight attendant when I met her. The same flight I had taken leaving Emma at that Alaskan pack. I was heartbroken. Despite her flaws, Emma was always good to me and I never thought I’d meet a women so submissive to me again. She let me have her anytime I wanted. I loved that Emma never put up a fight, and if she did it was always easy to make her do it anyway. She was a fat w***e and we’re better off without her. Maddox reminds me. I roll my eyes internally. Amber had approached me while I was drowning my sorrows into the mini liquor bottles. One look into her beautiful brown eyes and Maddox went nuts. I had finally found my true mate, and Emma was just a memory. For a while, all I could focus on was Amber. She was beautiful, and skilled in bed, which oddly bothered me. I enjoyed the fact that Emma was untainted, her pretty p***y had only been used by me, she was molded perfectly to my c**k. Amber and I couldn’t get away from each other for a good two months after meeting. We got married the same day I was crowned Alpha and I stuffed a pup in her belly that night. After we found out she was pregnant, I had trouble keeping interest in her. Sure she’s stunning and a great lay, but my Gods she is self centered. Her looks and the way we present ourselves to the pack is all she can think about, all the time. Even when decorating our son’s nursery she was obsessed with making it perfect for the social media pictures. She’s also not as smart as Emma. Amber is.. simple. That’s not a bad thing. Maddox defends our mate once again. I started sleeping around with other women again after she got pregnant, despite Amber’s constant protests against it. Then I discovered that b***h werewolf Queen had tricked me. Her and Emma were mates, that was why she snatched her from me. Now, not only is Kara the Queen of our entire species but she has a direct descendant from one of the most powerful ancient witch covens as her Queen Consort or whatever the f**k they call her. My father berates me over and over for that mistake. We should’ve asked for more money for her. Maddox grumbles at me. When I found out she was now a Queen, I had my Beta keep tabs on her, but little news came from the north except the occasional picture of the two. Emma had really let herself go since being up her. She looks as if she’s gained thirty pounds. At least when she was with me I cared enough to keep her from eating so much. There’s a knock at my door, pulling me from my thoughts. “Come in.” I yell gruffly, adjusting my belt back into place. My mother stands in front of me, a look on her face I’m unfamiliar with. I think it’s sorrow. “Carter you need to get to the hospital right now. There’s been an accident and Amber is in surgery right now. They’re trying to save the baby but it’s so early..” her voices cracks and she clears her throat, regaining composure. I leap from my seat and grab my keys. “Something is wrong with my son? Let’s go, I’ll drive.” My mom follows me hastily out to my car and we speed to the hospital. My heart is racing and Maddox is pacing back and forth through my mind, making me even more anxious. After what feels like an eternity, we enter the ER and I grab the nearest doctor. “Excuse me, Im Amber Balt’s husband. Someone said there was an accident? I need to see her.” He glances down at my hand on his arm and I let go, apologizing under my breath. “Come with me, I’ll fill you in on what’s going on as we head back there.” I look back at my mom. “Stay here, I’ll let you know as soon as I know.” She nods and finds a seat in the corner. I match the doctors fast pace as we move down the halls and into an elevator. “Your wife was in a car accident, the impact caused the seat belt to do severe damage to her abdomen. Her placenta detached and there was trauma to the baby.” He swipes his card and we enter the labor ward. “She was taken into emergency surgery where the baby was born via C section. As of now, he’s alive but I have to be honest with you Mr. Balt, at 23 weeks the odds of him surviving are slim, let alone the fact he has internal bleeding that we can’t go in and fix until he’s stable enough for his own surgery.” We stop at another door and he enters a PIN code. “Your wife is okay, but during the c section she had a lot of hemorrhaging so the only way to save her was to preform a complete hysterectomy.” My stomach drops and even Maddox freezes. “So my son is going to die and my wife can never have children again?” The doctor sighs. “I’m so sorry to have to give you this unfortunate news, but your son has a 3% chance of survival if we can get him stable enough for the surgery. Would you like me to take you to your wife? She’s recovering now and might be confused.” I shake my head. “No, please take me to my son. I’d like to see him first.” The doctor has me follow him to a small room where an incubator sits under low lighting. I step slowly towards him, terrified of what’s inside. As I peer in, I see a tiny red alien that closely resembles a baby. His skin is paper thin, and I can see the veins underneath pumping away. My stomach lurches and I force the vomit back down my throat. I spin on my heel and rush out of the room, catching the doctor before he’s left the hallway. “Excuse me, I’d like to see my wife now.” I croak. He guides me to her room and leaves me to enter alone. I quietly open the door and see Amber, half asleep in a hospital bed. “Amber, baby it’s Carter.” I say softly and her eyes flutter open. “Carter, oh Gods baby I’m so glad your here. I swear the accident wasn’t my fault, you can even look at the police report. That truck ran through the red light and I was so scared. They told me they had to take our James out, is he okay?” She cries weakly, and I shush her. “Calm down baby, I know it wasn’t your fault. Did the doctors tell you what happened during your surgery?” Her heavy eyes fill with tears. “I’ll never have another baby. We will never have another baby.” She sobs and I lay my head onto her chest, my own tears dampening her gown. A nurse comes in, telling us we need to come say our goodbyes to James because he’s taken a turn and they can’t save him. I help Amber into a wheelchair and wheel my wife down the hall into the tiny alien’s room to say our goodbyes. I try not to look directly at him as Amber holds the glass and sobs. The tiny baby takes his last breath and I hear Maddox in my head mourning for his son. (Amber) They released me from the hospital a few days ago, as soon as I was capable of walking and showering on my own. They asked if we wanted James’s body for a funeral but Carter declined. He didn’t want it to be a public thing. I tried arguing with him but there’s no changing Carter’s mind once it’s made up. I sit in the living room of my house with Susan cooking soup for me in the kitchen. I’m so grateful to have Carter’s mother to care for me. He’s been avoiding me as much as possible, and I don’t blame him. I let him down, I let our son die. Susan’s phone rings and she stops what she’s doing to hastily walk outside. The poor woman has been grieving the loss at her only chance at a grandson and still has the strength to care for me. The front door opens and it’s Carter. I try to ignore the stain on his pant line, but my heart knows he was out f*****g whoever he could get his hands on. It kills me to know he does this but I can’t imagine how difficult this is for him. He lost all hopes of an heir in a matter of hours. “Mom, I need to talk to you, now!” He shouts, tossing his jacket down onto the couch and going towards the back porch. “Is everything okay?” I ask, wincing slightly as I try to get up. He holds his hand up, motioning for me to stop. “No babe, this doesn’t concern you. Just stay there, you don’t want to tear your stitches.” He says. Carter’s so concerned for us, it’s sweet. My wolf, Isabelle purrs. He finds his mother out on the balcony and I wait until he’s out of sight to carefully get up and slink down the hallway. The door to the balcony is cracked and I stand against the wall to listen to what they’re saying. “That is your child. You have a right to it just as much as she does.” Susan growls. Carter huffs irritability. “I know it’s mine, and it’s a boy too. But you realize she’s married to the Queen of our species right? They have unlimited resources and would sooner kill me than agree to some part time parenting agreement.” “You won’t be getting part time, you need to raise that boy. If he’s raised by two women he will be weak, they’ll overthrow him in an instant. He’s also going to be incredibly powerful Carter. With him at our side we could overthrow Silver Crest and rule over everyone.” My hand covers my mouth as I try not sob in joy. Carter’s ex is pregnant, with my son! This must be the Gods way of testing what lengths I would go for Carter and my baby. We’re going to be parents after all. Isabelle purrs happily. “And just how do you think we’re going to get the baby from them? She would never let me have him. We would all die trying.” Carter sounds so exasperated and my heart aches for him. I step out of the shadows onto the porch. “I have an idea. I know how we could get our son back.” I smile proudly but Carter pinches the bridge of his nose and seems annoyed. “Amber, babe please go back to resting. I don’t have time for these silly games.” I pout and cross my arms. “It’s not silly. I know how to get Emma before she even gives birth to James, I just need you to come up with how to get her away from the Queen.” Carter begins to yell at me but Susan stops him, placing a hand on his chest. “Now wait a minute Carter, let’s listen to Amber. She might be onto something.” She smiles sweetly at me. “Go on dear, tell us your plan.”
