C004: D-DAY!

1243 Words
The next morning came too soon for Melissa as she stirred in her sleep and stretched a bit on her bed. “What's today?” She whispered and got out of bed. Just then, a maid walked into her bedroom. “Good morning Miss,” the girl greeted cheerfully. “Happy wedding way!” The memories of last night came rushing back to Melissa. She groaned. Her husband-to-be was arriving. Today. And she was getting married. The girl had no idea what was going on in Melissa’s head. She gave her a bright smile. “You must be so happy,” she cried. Melissa gave her a tight smile, hiding her true feelings. “Escatic.” The girl giggled. “The Luna wants you to have your bath and get ready. The makeup artists would be arriving shortly.” “Got it. You may leave,” She replied and turned to face the mirror. “You have no choice. You must accept your fate,” she whispered to herself before walking into the bathroom. By the time she came out of the bathroom, Carlotta was standing next to her bed, her hand grazing the fabric of a long silver dress on the bed, the color of their pack. “Come and try it on,” she said. “And if I refuse?” Melissa shot back. Her mother’s lips thinned. “Our guests will be arriving shortly. Start getting dressed. You don't want to provoke your father.” “He didn’t care about provoking me when he arranged this stupid marriage,” she spat. “Melissa! Be quiet. We have workers downstairs and they might hear you,” her mother cried, aghast. She scoffed. “Wouldn’t want the staff to hear their darling alpha being disrespected. Fine, I'll be the perfect daughter and shut my stupid mouth.” Her mother’s eyes darkened and she stalked out of the room, mercifully leaving Melissa alone. She ran to the window, staring out. “This is our last chance to escape, Melissa. Take it or leave it,” she whispered to herself. || "Do you really think pushing on with this wedding is the right thing to do?" Allan asked as the car drove to a stop in front of the huge mansion. "Of course, that's the only way we are going to get a hold of them. And moreover, that's the only way he can pay me for all the things I've been doing for him. He knows what I can do. Don’t worry, it's just a court wedding, nothing big. We're just going to sign some documents and get out." "Do you know what the daughter looks like? After all, you’re going to be married to her. Have you ever seen her picture?" Allan asked. He shook his head. "We met once when we were young but that was age ago. I have no idea how she looks now. But I've heard of her. I've heard she's bossy, rude and completely pig-headed.” Allan chuckled, amusement in his eyes. “It'll be a really nice match then seeing as you are also Mr pig-headed. I’ll love to see who is more stubborn, you or her." Alden frowned. “I won’t take such behavior from her. I’m the man of the house so she’ll have to learn to be submissive.” “Huh-uhn,” Allen muttered, laughing under his breath. “This should be fun.” They both stepped out of the car, and Allan walked up the porch to press the doorbell. A maid opened the door with a smile on her face. Alpha Vanda was waiting right inside. "It's a pleasure having you here, Alpha Alden. Thanks for honoring our invitation,” he greeted, offering Alpha Alden his hand. "You're welcome to our park, Alpha, Aldine." Carlotta said. Alden's ignored the outstretched hand. His eyes danced around the house. “I don’t see my bride anywhere,” he said coldly, noting that the entourage behind them was made up of only maids and servants. “Your daughter should be here, attending to her visitors, not somewhere else playing around,” he chastised. Alpha Vanda gave his wife a displeased look. She gulped. “Apologies, Alpha Alden. She is still getting dressed. You know she has to look beautiful for your arrival,” she said, giggling nervously. Alden raised a brow. “Get her down here. I do not intend to waste my time. I have other business to attend to,” He said sternly. "Of course, of course. Carlotta, get Melissa. She needs to be here right now." Alpha Vanda said. Carlotta nodded and hurried away, heading up the stairs. As she walked up to the door, she could hear the makeup artist on the other side. "You look so pretty, miss! Absolutely stunning. Your husband will be so happy when he sees you," she gushed, admiring her finished work. Carlotta opened the door and walked in to see Melissa with a big scowl on her face. "The alpha is here and asking for you, Melissa. Come on, we need to go," she said impatiently, grabbing her daughter’s arm and pulling her to her feet. "Do you realize you are selling me off mom? Do you?" She asked as her mother dragged her to her feet. "We are not selling you off, Melissa. Try to understand that your father needs to do this or else our clan will be under attack. We will lose our position as Alpha and Luna of this clan!” Carlotta exclaimed. “It’s all about you and your position. What about me?” Melissa cried. “If we become homeless and powerless, you also will have nowhere to run to. You will be the daughter of a nobody. Is that what you want?" Melissa scoffed. "Maybe all I want is to have parents that love me so much that they can’t bear to sell me to a stranger. I really hope your mind and your heart can take this, mom." With that, she yanked her hand out of her mother’s grasp. “I’ll do what you want. I’ll get married.” She gave one last longing look at the window and walked out of the room, leaving Carlotta standing there. "What are you looking at? Take your things and get out! Get out." Carlotta screamed at the make-up artist who was staring at them with shock. She ran after her daughter. As Melissa walked down the stairs, the clicking of her heels drew their attention of everyone waiting. First, her eyes landed on her father. He had a look of pride on his face as she watched her coming down the stairs. Next to him, another male figure stood with his head raised, looking at her. That must be the Alpha she was marrying. She shifted her attention to him.Their eyes locked. The moment their eyes made contact, a gasp burst from her lips. “No!” Her leg stumbles and she went free-falling down the stairs. She closed her eyes, waiting for the impact but instead she crashed into something soft but firm. Her eyes sprung open to see herself in the arms of her husband-to-be. His white hair stood out like a sore. She hadn’t been mistaken. It was him! Melissa felt the walls closing in on her as her eyes widened. The insane alpha was going to be her husband!
