“You crazy people! Let me go now, or else!” Melissa screamed at the top of her lungs, hitting Allan's shoulder as he carried her like a sack of potatoes.
“Or else what?” Allan asked, his voice dripping with amusement and sarcasm.
“Or else…” Melissa trailed off. What color she do? She wasn’t a full wolf yet. She didn’t have any powers. And she didn’t even know how to fight.
Allan scoffed. “I thought as much.”
Melissa’s face turned red. “Let me go or I’ll bite you!” She cried in frustration.
“Screaming isn't going to help so I'd suggest you tone it down, be more like a lady than a child.” He smirked.
She gasped. “Did you just insult me?”
He ignored her, tossing her into a dusty old room and slamming the iron bars shut. “You will remain in here until the Alpha decides what to do with you.”
The Alpha? That must be the man with the icy voice. Just remembering his voice made her shiver.
She never even got to see his face, hanging head down as she was from Allan’s massive shoulders.
She scrambled to her feet as fast as she could. “No way! I’m not staying in this…horrendously dirty cell! I'm gonna scream until someone out there hears me.”
“Good luck trying.” Allan replied, chuckling loudly as he walked away.
Melissa pounded on the door, screaming for him to come back but she was greeted by only silence. She sank to the floor. Had she made the right decision running away from home? Because this wasn't what she planned for at all. Hours ticked by and she was left, forgotten in the cell.
The door opened, revealing a young lady. “Hi,” she said, her voice gentle and sweet. She placed a tray of food on the floor. “You should eat up to gain energy and—”
“When am I getting out of here?” Marissa cut in desperately. “I’m not a criminal so why should i be treated as one?” She asked.
“It’s the law,” the lady answered simply. Suddenly, her brows furrowed. “Are you a werewolf? You don’t smell like one.”
Marissa frowned. “What do you mean?”
“I mean you don’t have a wolf scent on you…” Alicia said slowly.
“I'm seventeen. I’ve not yet transformed. That's probably why you haven't gotten my scent yet,” Marissa explained.
“Oh,” Alicia muttered but didn’t say anything more. “I'm Alicia, by the way, the mate of the Beta in this clan.”
Melissa’s brow shot up. The beta? Wasn’t that Allan, the oaf? How did such a wicked beast end up with such a sweet girl?
A thought occurred to Melissa. She rushed forward, grabbing Alicia’s hand. “Please help me escape from here. I hate it here!”
Alicia’s eyes widened but before she could answer, a deep voice sounded from the door.
“Trying to manipulate my beta’s mate?” The icy voice from earlier filled the room.
Marissa’s eyes jerked up and for the first time, she made eye contact with the alpha who was holding her prisoner.

Alden stood besides his window, trying to make out why his captive looked and sounded so familiar. From her rich voice to her eyes which spoke volumes. But he couldn’t figure it out.
The door opened behind him and Allan walked in.
“What are you thinking about?” Allan asked as Alden turned to look at him.
“The girl. She looks and sounds familiar but I can’t place it.”
“We should run a truth and purity test on her,” he said sharply. “She might be a spy sent to do something terrible here.”
Alden scoffed. “She is no spy. I didn't smell any danger on her when you brought her in.”
Allan furrowed his brows. “Did she cast a spell on you or something? You’re usually the first to be suspicious of strangers.”
Alden shrugged. “You know I'm never wrong. Trust my judgement, Allen. You know what, I think I'm gonna pay a little visit to our captive.”
As they walked through the hallway, his guards bowed sharply, keeping their eyes down.
The door was already open. Alicia, Allan’s mate, was just inside the door, her hand tightly grasped by the prisoner.
It didn’t take long for him to figure out what was happening. “Trying to manipulate my betas mate?” He said icily.
Her eyes jerked up to his and widened in shock? He knew that look all too well. Everyone had the same look after meeting him for the first time, thanks to his hair. Pure white. Like snow. An anomaly. The source of his unimaginable strength.
But she recovered quickly, faster than many mighty men he’d met.
“Finally tired of this silly game?” She scoffed, meeting his gaze squarely. “Better go ahead and set me free now.”
Alden’s jaw almost dropped. He couldn’t understand how such a tiny girl could be so aggravating.
“How dare you talk to the Alpha like that?” Allan cried angrily, surging forward but Alden simply raised a finger and Allen stopped.
“You have such a sharp tongue. You realize that in just two seconds, I can have your blood splattered all around this room,” Alden said calmly.
Fear flashed in her eyes but that mouth just wouldn’t stop running. “You wouldn’t dare! Do you know who I am? If you hurt me, my father will have your head!”
“And who exactly are you?” He asked, sounding more amused than scared.
“I—I am—”she stuttered but couldn’t say the words. She couldn’t reveal her identity here! If his was a rival pack, they would surely kill her.
He scoffed. “Thought so. Second question. You're not human yet you do not have the scent of a werewolf either. Care to explain?”
Marissa’s frown deepened. Why was everyone going on and on about scents today?
“I don't remember owing you an explanation, Mr Alpha,” she said defiantly, rolling her eyes.
Alllen glowered but a slight smirk played at the corner of Alden’s lips.
“Well then, since you won’t answer my questions, I’ll just pass my judgement now. Trust me, you’re not gonna love it.”
“You're bluffing.” She spat.
He ignored her outburst. “You have two options. Option one, stay for a month as nanny to our OLD MYTHICAL BEAST—“
Her jaw dropped. “Did you just say beast?”
He ignored her again. “Or you can stay locked up in this room forever.”
“You must be joking,” she spat.
“Do I look like I’m joking?” He spat back.
She scoffed, her eyes wide. “I've heard about sick alphas but I must confess you top the list! Nanny to a beast? If you think I’m going to do that then you must be retarded. I’m walking out of here right now! You can either let me go or kill me immediately!”
Her voice wobbled slightly. Her fingers clenched, but she stood her ground.
“I’m leaving,” she snapped again and stalked towards the door. When she reached him, he would either kill her or step aside. There was no turning back now.
Her leg shook with every step. Would she make it out alive?
