CHAPTER FIVE - THE CHOSEN ONE

467 Words
Jinhai was taking his walk home after a tiring day filled with school work and unrelenting Kungfu practice. Extremely tired, he decided to pass a shortcut to get home faster. Legend had it that Raham would try to strike anyone who tried to pass that route. This superstition was derived after Raham struck three people to death on that way for three consecutive days. The townspeople derived the ideology to that effect. Since then, the route has been left an d has become a place of desolation within the town. Raham killed anyone in Kakamucho as he pleased. His mode of doing so was random so that the next person to be annihilated will not be known and this makes them to be gripped by fear of death. The fear of death they say, is greater than death itself. thus everyone in Kakamucho lived in gear of the GREAT RAHAM as he t always looked abominable or accompanied with a feeling asi if it was sacrilege to die for a good person to die on that manner because it was believed that only a prison that committed an heinous sin would be dealt with like that. But that was before the inception of the Great Raham. Even the dragon god seemed to be no longer effective as they had consulted the oracle on many occasions but all their efforts proved futile and abortive. Raham had seen nine kings coronated and died. Legend has it that if the tenth king dies, no one will be able to stop him forever. This was disheartening as King Xin Yao who ascended the throne at thirty one years was now fifty six. He was growing older and age was no longer on his side. His worries lengthened day by day. However, Raham had no right to kill any of those kings to hasten his motive. Well, it looked like the three hundred and eighty years old wait was going to pay him after all. Kakamucho needed a saviour, but no one knew when, how or who. Even the dragon priest bad no answers to it. The King's death brings Raham to total control of the whole town. Raham would not spare anyone when he gets permanent control. Jinhai ignorantly passed the path and came out through the other side without a scratch on his body. People saw him and wondered the type of person he was. "Is this not Mei's son? How was he able to get out of there? He is the answer to our prayers. Our prayers have been answered. Praise the gods. Now that I've seen Kakamucho's future, I can die in peace". An old man said to himself and quietly returned into his small hut. The old man happened to be the priest of the dragon god.
