**Lily**
It had been a few days and after what happened when i visited my parents I needed some space and plan my next big move. I wasn’t going to let them treat me like I’m nothing and I wasn’t going to wait and let my dreams pass me by when I knew what I was capable of.
I finally got the call I’ve been desperately waiting for. I was scheduled for an appointment with the director of the DA and it was scheduled for six pm sharp.
I stood in front of the mirror, a mix of excitement and nerves coursing through my veins. I carefully selected her outfit, wanting to make a powerful impression at the interview. As I slipped into the sleek, tailored black pantsuit, i couldn't help but feel a surge of confidence.
The pants hugged my figure perfectly, accentuating my strong and determined demeanor. The blazer, with its sharp lines and impeccable fit, added a touch of sophistication to my look. I knew that my outfit was a reflection of my inner strength and professionalism.
I completed the ensemble with a crisp white blouse, its delicate fabric adding a touch of femininity to the overall ensemble. The silver necklace i wore sparkled under the light, adding a subtle hint of elegance to her appearance.
I took a moment to appreciate my reflection in the mirror. My outfit exuded confidence and grace, exactly the image i wanted to portray. With a final adjustment to my hair and a deep breath, i knew i was ready to face the challenges of the interview.
As she walked out the door, Lily couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. I was prepared, both mentally and sartorially, to make a lasting impression. With each confident step, i knew i was one step closer to realizing my dreams.
I walked into the director's office with confidence, her mind sharp and focused. I greeted the director with a firm handshake, my eyes displaying determination and intelligence.
As we sat down, the director began to discuss the job opportunity that I had been dreaming of. My skills and expertise shone through as i eloquently articulated her experiences and demonstrated my ability to solve complex cases. I spoke with precision, showcasing my analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Throughout the conversation, my collected demeanor never wavered. I presented myself as a true professional, leaving the director impressed with my capabilities. It was clear that i was the perfect fit for the job i had always aspired to have.
As the meeting concluded, i left the director's office with a sense of accomplishment. I knew that i had showcased my skills and intelligence, leaving a lasting impression on the director. Now, all that remained was to await the final decision that would determine the next chapter of my detective career."
On Sunday morning, I woke up to an email from the DA Director’s office. My heart pounded, and my palms grew sweaty. I hesitated to open it.
“I wasn’t expecting an email this soon”.
Quickly preparing myself, I grabbed my car keys and drove straight to Molly's house.
After an hour's drive, I pulled up to her driveway. I rang the doorbell repeatedly.
"Coming!" Charlie's voice echoed from the other side of the door.
"Hey," I said, forcing a wide smile as Charlie, still adjusting to the morning brightness, rubbed his eyes.
"It's 8 AM on a Sunday, Lily," he reminded me, as if I had forgotten what day it was.
"Ugh… Put on some clothes, nobody wants to see your ashy chest" I replied sarcastically , nudging him aside and walking in.
"Babe! Who is it?" Molly's voice carried through the air. I wanted to shout that it was her best friend, but Charlie beat me to it. "Some weird-looking caveman with a really odd beard."
"Oh my goodness, I’ll be down in a sec," Molly exclaimed. Seconds later, her footsteps hurried toward the front door. "Where is he?" she yelled, leaving me uncertain if she was thrilled or irked. "Over there," Charlie said, pointing in my direction.
"You're such a tease, you know that," I retorted playfully, and he chuckled as I made my way to Molly, wrapping her in a bear hug. "Sorry, I guess my eyes betrayed me again," we all burst into laughter, genuine happiness enveloping us.
"So, what brings you here, best friend?" Molly shot me a curious glance. "Did I interrupt your morning exercise?" I teased her, whispering into her ear, a mischievous smile playing on my lips, causing her to blush.
"Lily!" She whimpered, leading us to the living room. "I've got good news," I blurted out, excitement evident on my face as bright as day. "I'm all ears," Molly replied enthusiastically, taking my hands.
"I went for an interview last week, and today I woke up to an email."
"What did it say? Did you open it?" Molly's curiosity got the better of her. "That's why I'm here. I want you to do it… Honestly, I'm too nervous, and my hands are shaking."
"Really?! You want me to open it? Are you sure about this?" She questioned, squeezing my hands.
"I've never been this sure in my life." Her eyes teared up, and I nodded, giving her the go-ahead as she unlocked my phone and opened the email. I trembled, watching her eyes move from one end to another. She paused. I was shaking. She nodded, and my eyes widened. "I got it?" I asked, needing her confirmation.
"Yes," she said, tears streaming down her cheeks, and I joined in. We hugged, crying and laughing simultaneously. "I'm so proud of you, Lily," Molly exclaimed between laughter and tears. "Thank you," I replied.
Charlie walked in on the emotional commotion in his living room, congratulated me, and handed us some wipes. "That's enough; my fiancée's face will turn all puffy and red," he quipped sarcastically. "Alright, alright."
I spent the day at Molly’s, chatting about everything and anything. She teased me about finding a man who’d meet her standards because she was my best friend. We laughed, talked about her wedding plans, and future events.
