I felt the color drain from my face. A vampire. I just lost my virginity to a vampire. I didn't even know those were real... and I slept with one.
"River? Little wolf? Are you ok?" Oliver was waving his hands in my face. Before I could stop it, a deep growl vibrated through my chest. Oliver jumped off the bed and did some kind of growl-hiss at me. I slapped my hand over my mouth in embarrassment.
"Oh my God! Oliver! I'm so sorry! It just came out. I'm sorry." I covered my face in my hands. This night had turned into much more than I bargained for. I felt his cool hands on my own as he pulled them from my face.
"I told you. You wouldn't stay with me if you knew what I was." I could see the hurt in his eyes as he got up and started picking my clothes up off the floor.
I knew he was suppose to be my enemy, but I didn't want to go. I got up, walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him. I inhaled deeply, breathing in his sweet scent. French toast. He turned around and kissed me hard, his tongue fighting mine for dominance. After a few minutes he pulled away to look at me.
"You look tired, little wolf. You need sleep." He kissed my forehead and for the first time in a long time, I felt relaxed. I melted under his touch. I wonder if this is what Zachariah would have felt like?
"Come, little wolf. You can go home in the morning." We climbed into bed and I found myself snuggling myself under his arm. His fingers were tracing circles on my back causing me to drift off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
I woke to the sound of my alarm. When I opened my eyes, I found myself gently tucked into my own bed. I couldn't figure out how I got there until I found a note on my night stand.
Little wolf:
I didn't want you to be late today so I took the liberty of taking you home. (Yes. I got your address from your driver's liscense) I've added my number into your phone. I would be honored if you let me take you on a proper date. If not, I will completely understand.
Yours truly,
Oliver St. Cloud
I sighed. Albeit, a little creepy, it was still sweet of him to make sure I wasn't late today. I looked in my phone to find his number saved under, Sexiest Man Alive. I chuckled and got up to start my day.
I felt electrified for some reason. I took a quick shower, letting the hot water wash away any tension I had in my muscles. I got out and got myself ready for the day. After dressing in a pair of aqua blue scrubs, I pulled my hair into a messy bun and headed to the kitchen to toast a bagel and make some coffee. I was waltzing around the kitchen, humming to myself when Natalia came out of her room with a tall black man. She walked him to the door and smiled at him telling him that of course she would call him before shutting the door in his face. She turned to me and rolled her eyes.
"I don't know why they always have to be so clingy. I just wanna f**k. Then I want then to f**k off. How difficult is that to understand?" I giggled at her and handed her a coffee.
"Mmmmm... so... tell me about the handsome guy who brought your sleeping corpse in last night?" She said, wiggling her eye brows at me. I let out a hearty laugh.
"He's just a guy I met at the club." I didn't meet her gaze.
"Ah. Just a guy from the club? Yalancı." She said as she walked away down the hall with her coffee in hand. I rolled my eyes, grabbed my bag and opened the door to leave. When the door opened, Zachariah was on the other side. My heart caught in my throat.
"Hi." He said with a crooked smile. I just stared at him. "Your mom told me where y-" his voice trailed off as he sniffed the air. He pushed past me and came inside my apartment with his nose in the air, sniffing. I knew what he was smelling: Oliver. He sniffed his way into my room and to my bed before inhaling deeply. A deep, primal growl erupted from his chest and vibrating the walls as he spun around and glared at me. Hearing the animal like noise, Natalia came rushing out of her room.
"Neler oluyor?" She said as she too came barrelling into my room. "Orospu! What the f**k is going on? Who is this?" She said waving her hand at a red faced Zachariah.
"No one Natalia. Please, go to your room." I said quietly.
"Kesinlikle hayır! No! What in the hell is going on? I hear an animal in here!" She exclaimed.
"Natalia! Please! Go to your f*****g room! I'll explain later! For the love of f**k!" I barked out. She looked taken aback for a moment. She looked between Zachariah and I, before nodding at me and walking out. Closing the door behind her.
"Why was there a vampire here, River?" His voice was murderous.
"Who I have in my home is none of your business. What I do, is none of your business. You don't get to interrogate me about anything." My voice was steady and calm as I responded. His face didn't change at all. He continued to stare daggers at me.
"It's time for you to leave, Zachariah. I have to go to work. I don't have time for your bullshit." I turned to open the door. "Get out."
"River, do you know how dangerous vampires are? Hmmm? They have no respect for life at all. They don't feel. They are blood sucking parasites that feed off the blood of the living. One bite can kill you." Zachariah's anger spewed out with every word uttered from his lips.
"You're an i***t. Get the hell out of my God damn apartment right now, Zachariah." A bewildered look took over his face.
"Are you f*****g this vampire? Is that who you were with last night?"
"Get the f**k out of my apartment, now, Zachariah! Or so help me Goddess I will put you out!" Blue whimpered at my words but I stood firm. Zachariah gave me one last hard look before finally leaving. As soon as the door closed Natalia came out of her room.
"OK, River, I wait. Explain." I sighed. I guess I needed to call my attending. I grabbed my phone from my purse and saw three missed calls, all from Sadie. God dammit. I was about to call her back when my phone lit up with an incoming call. It was Momma Beth. I answered.
"Hello?"
"Wolfie girl, tell me why you didn't answer for your momma?" She demanded.
"Momma Beth, I just now saw my phone. What's wrong? Is everything okay?"
"I don't know, Wolfie girl. You tell me." f*****g Zachariah.
"Momma Beth, just listen to me okay."
"Are you screwing around with a vampire?" So I guess she's just going to come right out with it.
"Momma Beth, it was one time-"
"River Lee O'Brian! What on God's green Earth was you thinking? When that boy told us what you was doin', I thought he was pullin' our leg! But you over there screwin' around with a vampire of all things!" I could feel my temper rising but I bit my tongue.
"Momma Beth, if you'd just let me explain-"
"Explain? What the hell is there to explain, River? Do you have any idea what kind of fire you playin' with? You are layin' with the enemy! And a dangerous one at that!"
"Momma Beth, will you just stop and let me explain!"
"No! Cause there's no excuse, River! No excuse. Now, you better listen to me and listen to me good. You better not see that vampire no more. You understand me?" I don't know why but at that moment a dam inside me broke. I growled loudly into the phone.
"I am not a child anymore! I will see who I want and I will do what ever the hell I want! I do not need anyone's permission. And second, what gave you and Sadie the right to tell Zachariah where I lived in the first place? Hmmm? Did I give you permission to hand out my f*****g address? Nooooo! I didn't!" I took a breath. I heard Momma Beth take in a shakey one of her own.
"OK, Wolfie girl. Ok." And with that she hung up.
