Chapter Seventeen Meghan Skipping alongside Chris, I have to half walk, half run to try to keep up with him. He took my hand as he’d emerged from the locker room and beat a hasty exit from the stadium, dragging me along in his wake. His stride seems a half-length greater than my own and I have to break a jog intermittently to match him. I’m clinging on to his hand like a toddler being dragged away from a kiddie ride. We’re halfway to the car before his clenched jaw and pouting lips loosen enough for him to talk. He pauses to face me, to accuse me. “You two weren’t even watching the play! You were so caught up in your hilarious little conversation. I saw you both. Thanks to you two, I could’ve cost my team the victory.” Chris slaps his hand against his chest with his last comment, angry
