The night was slipping away, and Sienna felt as though she were in a trance. The sounds of laughter and clinking glasses faded into the background as she returned to the reception area, feeling emotionally numb. The warm ocean breeze brushed against her skin, yet within her, a chill intensified with each step. That encounter with Jack the way he confessed, the look in his eyes, the tone of his voice everything felt intensely real. However, it was almost too real, and it was far too late. He had revealed everything to her, yet they remained trapped in this elaborate facade. His words lingered in her chest like an inescapable smoke, and all she yearned for was to scream. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” she mumbled quietly, but the answer seemed impossibly distant, just beyond her grasp.
