Sergeant Yamura wasn’t there. They wound up outside Lieutenant O’Hara’s office, where the lieutenant flexed his bureaucratic muscles by making them wait.
Lindsey wandered down the hall and located a pay phone. Jack Glessner would more likely be at home than at Cape ’n’ Dagger.
Alvin Olsen answered the ring. When Lindsey identified himself, Olsen told him that Glessner had died during the night. Olsen was now the acting general manager of the Cape ’n’ Dagger chain, pending reorganization of the business.
