Chapter 1 Death of an Omega

1321 Words
“I, Alpha Zander, reject you, Linda, as my mate!” Zander’s eyes, filled with disgust, bore into Linda as he severed their bond with cruel finality. The moment those words left his lips, my wolf howled—grief-stricken and raw from the pain of losing our destined mate. “You’re too weak to be my mate. I won’t take a fragile Omega as my Luna.” Linda clutched her chest, a bittersweet trickle of blood slipping from her lips as she endured the savage recoil of their bond being torn apart. She hadn’t expected this. What she once dreamed would be a beautiful future beside her Alpha had shattered into this moment—cold, brutal, and unforgiving. Zander looked at her as if she were the most vile, repulsive thing in existence. “Zander… don’t bully Linda like this. She’s your mate.” Zena, who had been hiding behind the curtain, stepped into the light—her hair a tangled mess, her naked body barely concealed by a sheer silk that failed to cover her fully. This time, Linda coughed up blood. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. The man who had sworn to protect her. The friend she had treated like a sister. Both had betrayed her—together. Linda’s head spun, the world tilting as if she were drowning in the weight of the revelation. “Y-You two…! How could you… How could you do this to me?!” Linda shouted in fury, her hand raised to strike Zena—betrayal and heartbreak surging through her like wildfire. But before her palm could reach that pristine skin, a sharp crack split the air. Slap! A red imprint bloomed across Linda’s cheek, her lip split from the force. She staggered, stunned, turning slowly to face the Alpha who had struck her. “Z-Zander…?” A single tear slipped down her cheek, shimmering with disbelief. “Linda, don’t be childish. You and I are over.” Zander stood beside Zena, arms wrapped protectively around her as if even the air might harm the woman he now claimed to love. “I chose Zena over you. Just accept it.” Zander stood tall, radiating Alpha authority as he towered over Linda, his gaze cold and unyielding. “Why…?” Linda choked on her own voice, too stunned, too hurt to form more words. “Why? Linda, you know why. Yes, we’re fated mates—but you’re too vicious for your own good. Unlike Zena.” Linda’s eyes flicked to Zena, who buried her face in Zander’s chest. A subtle smirk played on her lips, barely hidden. “Me? Vicious? I would never—!” Her protest was cut short. “Don’t lie.” Zander snapped. "I know you’ve always bullied Zena. She’s too innocent, too kind to even tell me how much you’ve hurt her. I saw it myself. She never wanted to come between us. She’s pure. Gentle.” Zander turned to Zena, brushing her cheek with reverence, as if she were made of glass—too delicate to be touched by anything less than devotion. “Zander…” Zena leaned her cheek meekly against Zander’s palm, her smile soft and shy—but behind his back, she flashed Linda a victorious smirk, deliberately provoking her. “You…!” Driven by rage and betrayal, Linda lunged forward, ready to strike the two-faced b***h. But before she could reach them, Zander shoved her back—without holding his strength. “Enough!” Linda crashed to the ground, the force of his push leaving bruises and scrapes across her skin. “Linda, stop being so vicious. Leave Zena out of this. It’s not her fault. I don’t want to mate with you. It’s my decision—I don’t love you.” Zander shook his head, glaring down at her with pure disgust. Zena buried her face in his chest, hiding her smirk behind a mask of innocence. “But—” Zander cut her off sharply. “Even if we’re fated mates, I won’t let the bond leash me to someone like you. I love Zena. I will never love you, no matter what the mate bond says.” He looked down at Linda coldly, as if she were nothing more than a mistake. “I reject you as my mate. My future Luna will only be Zena—she’s more kindhearted and purer than you’ll ever be. Give up now, before I have you dragged out. It would only disgrace your family.” “Zander, please wait! Don’t do this to me… to us! Please!” But Zander ignored Linda’s cries. “Please… didn’t you promise you’d always protect me? That you’d marry me once we grew up?” Zander turned away, Zena nestled in his arms, smiling sweetly at him. Yet behind his back, she flashed Linda a smug, victorious grin. Linda’s eyes followed their retreating figures, her heart shattering with every step they took away from her. “Why…?” Her wolf howled—a sound torn between rage and agony—as the mate bond snapped violently, leaving her soul raw and exposed. “WHY?!!!” Linda’s scream echoed through the hall, heartbroken and primal, as the red string of fate unraveled—its ends now leading to separate, irreconcilable paths. Linda remained seated on the cold ground for minutes… maybe hours. Time had lost its meaning. When she finally rose, her eyes were vacant—dull and lifeless—as she walked past the tribe members who remained blissfully unaware of the heartbreak that had just shattered her very world. She moved aimlessly, like a ghost in her own skin. A hollow shell. A zombie. With each step, her footprints left behind a faint red stain. Then deeper. Darker. Until the ground bore the full weight of her bleeding body—blood seeping from all seven orifices. It poured from her mouth like a waterfall. Her eyes wept crimson blood instead of tears. But Linda did not stop. Her young body was failing, unable to withstand the violent backlash of a severed mate bond. Even her wolf, once fierce and proud, now whimpered like an abandoned pup—weak, fading. Yet Linda refused to fall here. She refuses to let them see her broken. If this were her final breath, she would walk it with dignity, even in ruin. She walked. And walked. Until her legs gave out beneath her, and she fell to her knees before an ancient oak tree. “Hah…” Her shoulders trembled, her face hidden behind tangled strands of hair. “Ha… hahahahahahaha!” Her laughter cracked through the silence—wild, broken, and echoing with the sound of a soul unraveling. Linda laughed—wild, broken, and unrelenting. The sound grew louder, more manic, even as blood choked her throat. But she didn’t stop. Linda did not stop laughing, mad, she was deranged and devoid of pain. “Zander…” From hysteria to heartbreak, her voice softened—gentle, fragile, and shattered. She curled beneath the oak tree like a lost child seeking shelter from a storm. “Why? Why? Please… why? Why did you betray me?” She gasped, choking on blood as she looked up at the sky. Her wolf howled—a sound of pure anguish, lost and grieving. “If there’s a next life… please, let me be someone who can love freely. Let my fate not be chained by mate bonds. Let my heart never fall for someone unworthy.” Linda smiled. Was it sadness? Anger? Melancholy? Wistfulness? Only she knew the truth behind that final expression. Her eyes grew heavy. Her wolf whimpered, then howled one last time before falling silent. Only the cold wind whispered through the clearing. Only the oak tree remained—a silent witness to the end of a life. The end of an Omega. The end of Linda.
