Liam looked great in his fitted suit as he picked Emily up from her office. Emily had her hair done to perfection and was wearing a gorgeous red dress.
They arrived arm in arm and grinned for the cameras at the charity gala where they had their first date. The feeling that she was in over her head persisted even though Emily felt like a princess.
Emily saw a spark of attraction when Liam's eyes met hers as they danced across the floor. Reminding herself that this was a phony engagement, she pushed it away.
But as the evening went on, Emily couldn't help but be captivated by Liam's magnetic charm. She kept asking herself what would happen if their fictitious engagement became true.
Emily saw that she was enjoying herself more and more as the evening went on. Liam seemed to know precisely how to make her laugh, since he was funny and charming.
Emily couldn't get rid of the feeling that she was in over her head, though, even though sparks were flying between them. For the sake of her business, she had accepted this phony engagement, but now she was beginning to question whether she had made a grave error.
Emily felt a shock of energy go through her body as Liam's eyes met hers as they danced across the floor. She made an effort to ignore it, telling herself that this was a phony engagement, but she was powerless to control her emotions.
Liam put his arm around Emily's shoulders and led her out to the car as the evening came to an end. For the first time in a long time, Emily felt secure and at ease.
Liam said, "Thank you for tonight," in a silky, low voice. "I had a great time."
Emily grinned, experiencing joy she hadn't had in a while. She remarked, "I had a great time too."
Liam glanced at Emily and grinned as they arrived at her flat. "I'll pick you up at 7pm tomorrow night," he said. "We have a dinner date with some potential investors."
With a sense of excitement, Emily nodded. This phony engagement idea was beginning to appeal to her.
However, Emily couldn't get rid of the feeling that she was in over her head as she exited the car and entered her apartment. For the sake of her business, she had accepted this phony engagement, but now she was beginning to question whether she had made a grave error.
Emily's phone rang as she got into her pajamas and got into bed. After a moment of hesitation, she responded.
"Hello?" she asked in a hesitant tone.
The authoritative voice of Liam's assistant remarked, "Emily, it's Rachel." "I need to tell you something."
Emily felt her heart race faster. "What is it?"
Rachel paused, then said something. "I've been investigating Liam's past, and I think I've found something."
Emily's gaze expanded. "What is it?"
Rachel hardly raised her voice above a whisper. Liam Wright does not exist as he claims. He has been concealing his real past by adopting a false persona.
As Rachel's comments lingered in the air, Emily felt as though her entire world had collapsed.
What was she trying to say?
The doorbell rang as Emily was standing there, stunned.
Liam was the one.
With his gaze fixed on hers, he added, "Emily, I forgot something."
However, Emily merely stood there, her terrified eyes wide.
Because she had recently come to the realization that she was caught in a web of falsehoods and was unsure of how to get out.
"Who are you?" Fear trembling in her voice, Emily demanded.
Liam's gaze grew strained. "What are you talking about?"
Emily looked directly into his eyes. Her words, "I know about your fake identity," "Who are you really?"
Emily briefly believed she saw a spark of panic in Liam's eyes as his face turned white.
However, he grinned when his mask was put back in place.
"I think we need to talk," he continued in a threatening, low voice.
Liam then took a step nearer, his gaze fixed on Emily's.
However, Emily's phone rang once again as he reached out to seize her.
It was Victor Vex this time.
He said, "Emily, I warned you about Liam," in a quiet, frantic voice. "Now it's time for you to get out."
However, Liam's hand tightened around Emily's wrist, keeping her in place as she turned to run.
He uttered the words, "You're not going anywhere," with a malicious gleam in his eyes.
Everything went dark after that.
As Liam's hand tightened around Emily's wrist, her entire world darkened. She could feel herself being pulled away, but she was unable to resist. It was all a blur.
Emily was lying in an opulent bedroom when she woke up. Liam sat next to her, staring into her eyes.
"Who are you?" Emily tried to sit up and demanded.
"My name is not Liam Wright," Liam said with a smile. "It's Alexander Grayson. And I'm not a business person. "I'm a spy." Emily's eyes widened in surprise. "What?"
Emily asked, as Alexander leaned forward. "I've been working undercover to take down Victor Vex's organization. And I needed a fake fiancée to complete my cover." "You used me," she said, her voice trembling with rage.
Alexander's gaze met hers. "I apologize, Emily. But I was powerless. We're in this together now."
The door suddenly sprang open, and Victor Vex entered.
He responded, "Ah, Alexander," with a sparkle of evil in his eyes. "I've been looking for you."
Alexander got to his feet, staring at Victor.
His words were, "It's over," "We have evidence."
Victor scoffed. His words, "You'll never take me down,"
After saying that, he drew a rifle and aimed it at Emily.
"Let's see how much you care about your fake fiancée," he grumbled.
When Emily's reality darkened once more, Alexander's eyes widened in dread.
