On The Run

Chapter Four

Simone and Kira looked as the cops got out of their vehicles and pointed their firearms at them. As Kira opened her mouth to say something to her senior sister, Simone teleported away leaving her there. Rolling her eyes, Kira prepared for the next part.

"Hands up!" One of the officials shouted. 

"I'm not here to cause any harm!" Kira shouted. 

"Put your hands up!" He shouted.

Kira murmured vigorously yet she was drawn towards the tall and thin man who remained behind one of the squad cars. He wore his uniform gladly as he pointed the weapon straightforwardly at Kira. Kira stared at him in confusion before pointing her finger at him. As soon as she pointed, all of the guards pulled their triggers except for the particular man. Quickly, Kira placed a force field around her to protect herself from being shot. As the officers placed their g*n down, they stared at her in shock.

“You’re not human!” Kira announced as she let the field down and stared at the man. As the officials turned towards him, he grinned. Out of nowhere, he changed. The thin arms transformed into tan muscular arms, his black hair became brown, and his height lifted. Kira looked as the man grabbed the vehicle and threw it at a portion of the cops.

As the remaining ones started taking shots at him, he ran forward and avoided each bullet. He threw, punched, and kicked the officers leaving none standing. Looking at Kira, he began advancing over towards her. As Kira arranged to take on the man, Simone dropped from the sky and wrapped her legs around the man’s neck. 

“Stay away from my sister or I’ll beat your a*s!” She exclaimed. Instead of the man fighting Simone, he stood there with a soft smile on his face while he stared at Kira. 

“It’s alright, Simone.” Kira stated. Without tossing out another threat, Simone teleported from the man’s shoulders and stood next to Kira while watching him with squinted eyes.

“You know how to shapeshift.” Kira announced. “Who are you?” 

“My name is Sergio.” He answered. “I apologize if it seemed that I planned to attack you. It wasn’t my intention. I’ve been fighting these men since they’re arresting superhumans and locking them up in the institution.” 

“I’m Kira.” Kira greeted. 

He smiled and nodded. “I know and that’s Simone.” 

“You don’t get to say my name.” Simone muttered. 

“I’ll assume that Zoie’s around here somewhere?” He joked. 

Kira shook her head. “I wish but she’s missing and we are searching for her.” 

Sergio nodded. “It’s a bit too dangerous for you girls to be out here though. You’re the most wanted people in the country.” 

“We don’t need your help.” Simone answered. “We’ve done just fine so far!” 

“I meant no harm!” Sergio responded. “There’s a building where a group of us superhumans are hiding in. I just wanted to take you girls there so you can rest for a minute before continuing your search.” 

“Thank you! That would be great!” Kira stated. 

“No!” Simone exclaimed. “You’re already getting backtracked! We need to find Z!” 

“Maybe they can help!” Kira shot back. “The more eyes out there searching for her, the quicker we can find her.” 

“You can go but I’m not! I’m finding Zoie!” Simone yelled. 

Kira sighed. “With what lead? You know nothing but good luck with finding her alone.” Kira looked at Sergio before walking towards him. Simone watched as they walked away and rolled her eyes. 

“What a dumb bitch.” Simone mumbled to herself before walking in the opposite direction.
