Theseus and Pirithous watched the ship become a speck on the horizon and then turned south, towards the realm of Aidones and the intended capture of his wife, Persephone. They walked down towards the coast until the sun was at its highest and came to a small port where there were able to buy fresh goat’s cheese and bread. ‘Let’s move away from the port, find a sheltered spot to eat, and then sleep.’ Pirithous grinned. ‘Good idea. We didn’t get any sleep last night.’ The next morning they woke at dawn and set off along the coast road. This they followed, bypassing all settlements.
