Rebel Step Son

Danny's POV "urghhh! why is this professor taking forever?" I sighed heavily, scratching at my throat as I waited for the next lecture. The oak doors finally creaked open. I sat slumped in the middle row, my legs stretched out under the seat in front of me, as I slowly withered in boredom. "Seems your step daddy is back," Gabriel whispered, leaning close to my shoulder. I lifted my gaze to the door and indeed Mr Chadwick just walked into the lecture hall. For some reason, I totally forgot my step dad was my professor. I didn't flinch. I let out a short, dry huff and smirked, a sharp little expression that felt like my shield as I stared at Mr Chadwick from a distance. "Whatever," I muttered, my voice flat. I meant it. I was totally over the toxic lust I had for Mr Chadwick. His last words was something that usually echoed in my head. "Stay, away from me, you freak." I would never forget it. Alongside the demeaning insults I had endured from him. The days I had spent in the house alone, gave me enough time to think about everything carefully. Chadwick walked to the podium, looking disgustingly perfect. He was tan, a deep golden bronze that suggested he had spent a lot of time under a tropical sun, probably with his hands on my mother. He wore a thick brown shirt and a wedding ring that could easily catch the attention of everyone. "Welcome back," Chadwick said, his voice a low, resonant hum that used to make my hair hum but not anymore. Now it just made my jaw ache. "I hope you all enjoyed your break. Well straight to the point, we begin our study of human behavior and the biological drive behind social pairing." The lecture was a blur of academic jargon, I didn't care to listen to. I kept my eyes on my plain sheet, trying to sketch the front view of the class. "The drive for pairing isn't always about reproduction," Chadwick was saying, his voice turning sharp. "Sometimes, its about proximity. My fingers gripped my pencil tightly, enough to make it snap. I just hated the fact his voice still crept in my hearing. I wished I could mute him. "Or sometimes it's just about who looks good on the dance floor!" a guy two rows back yelled out, prompting a wave of snickers. "Speaking of pairing," Erica giggled, from beside me. " The latest couple in town, with the hottest tension....are Leo and Danny!" "Ooooohsss" the lecture hall erupted in chorus of laughter and whistles. Gabriel nudged me, grinning. I just leaned back, a small, arrogant smile playing on my lips. Honestly if my mum found out about this, she would kill me, but I just loved the fact Chadwick was now aware I had totally moved on from him. At the front of the room, the silence was deafening. I stared at Chadwick. He had stopped mid-sentence. His hands were gripped so tight around the edge of the podium that the wood actually groaned. His face was dangerously pale. He wasn't looking at Erica, who just spoke. He was staring at me, his eyes burning his usual murderous red. He didn't say a word. He just turned back to the board. The second the bell rang, I was out of my seat. I was already halfway down the hall with Gabriel, within seconds. Suddenly my phone buzzed in my pocket. Step dad: My office. Now! I stared at the screen for a second. How delusional must Chadwick be to think he could still boss me around? I scoffed, as I shoved back my phone in my pocket. I felt the familiar fear tried to call its way to my pores, but I shrugged it off. I wouldn't be a victim to a manipulative step dad anymore. I was in a hurry heading to see Leo. We had planned a bowling date after class, I felt a bit of excitement spiral in my veins as I increased my pace running toward his dorm. ----------- Eight hours later, I sluggishly walked back to my own dorm. I had fun, but it was honestly so exhausting, it was already past midnight and just few students were still chattering in the premises, like sleep got nothing on them. "Danny!" A voice came from the shadows of the parking lot. I froze. I knew that voice damn well. That deep, commanding voice that felt like it owned the ground I walked on. I turned around and saw Chadwick leaning against his black Bentley. He looked out of place in a college parking lot at midnight, too expensive, too dangerous. Sometimes I wonder if he had another side job, no way teaching paid for his exotic lifestyle. "What are you doing here?" I asked, my heart starting a frantic uneven rhythm. "Get in the car," Chadwick said. It wasn't a request. "No. It's midnight. I have class in..." "I said, get in the f*****g car, boy." The raw power in his voice sounded like it would strike me, if I didn't. I slowly opened the car door and got into the passenger seat. Chadwick didn't say a word to me, he slammed the door and tore out of the parking lot. He drove fast. Too fast. Speeding through the empty streets until the campus lights faded from a distance. I didn't know where we were headed. I just stayed quiet, wondering what next, my Stepdad had to say to me. Does he plan to finally expose my sketchbook to my mum? The silence was suffocating, I struggled to breathe comfortably. He finally pulled to a stop in the middle of nowhere. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Chadwick barked, finally turning to look at me. His eyes were wide, bloodshot red. "Dating that boy? Really? Even the whole classroom now knows you are a common cunt! Why aren't you with a girl?" I felt something snap in me. The weeks of humiliation from him all flooded my memory, boiling up in a hot, messy wave of adrenaline. "Because I am freaking gay!" I screamed, my voice cracking and filling the small space in the car. "You have always known it, stop acting all brand new okay. Get over it! And mind your f*****g business." Before I could even blink Chadwick moved. He didn't hit me. He lunged across the center console, pinning me against the passenger seat. His large hands moved to my neck, not choking me but holding me with a terrifying, sexy aggression. "Did you just raise your voice at me?" Chadwick hissed, his face just inches from mine. He pressed his body harder against me, his knee forcing its way between my thighs. For a moment now, I had even forgotten how to breathe. I felt a familiar spark of heat, but I smothered it as I clicked away, pulling his head back as far as the window would allow me. I opened the door, stepping out of the car. "Don't," I said, my voice trembling but firm. "Don't you ever touch me again!"
