Chapter Two

Nicholas Not suprised that the angel I saw at the club lastnight, occupied my mind, and my head. She’s the only thing I focus on, I’ve not been able to get any work done since I came to the office. She occupies my head when I try to focus on other things. I press on my intercom, Vivian please bring me my coffee, thank you. Sipping on my coffee, my mind still goes back to last night. I couldn’t get enough of her , and I didn’t know what to do. I don’t do these kind of things so I’m sure this feeling would slowly fade. I say this to reassure myself. The words I tried to tell myself failed because I still kept on thinking about her, when I close my eyes I see her and how she was on that stage, how she laughs and smiles, even if I saw that for only a little while. It keeps haunting me. She has occupied my mind and head. So I decided to continue going to the club to see her . I’ve been coming here for the past few days just to watch her, I already got her number from the manager guy. But I was still trying to restrain myself. I didn’t text her. Too obvious. Too… accessible. Besides, someone like her deserves a little intrigue. A little power play. I leaned back in the leather seat of my car, engine still humming, the city spilling out in neon outside the tinted windows. I held her number in my hand. burned into my memory already—but I wasn’t going to use it. Not yet. Instead, I called the manager. The one with the desperate handshake and eyes that flicked to my watch more than my face. He’d be easy to handle. Greedy men usually are. “Tell her,” I said, voice low, calm, “a client wants a private appointment. Discreet. One night only. Location provided.” I pulled a sleek black keycard from my wallet and handed it to him. It belonged to the penthouse suite of the Rothmoor. One of mine. Naturally. “No name,” I added. “Just the room. If she wants the details, she can ask in person.” He nodded quickly, eyes darting to the card like it might catch fire in his palm. “And tell her to put on a black dress,”I smiled faintly”. He didn’t ask questions. Good. I wasn’t in the mood to explain myself. This wasn’t about money. Not really. It was about her. I wanted to see how she would react to my behavior. KIMBERLY Sitting in the living room watching a show with Victoria, I ponder on how to tell her what I planned on doing. Knowing how she’d react to this. Victoria , please would you be able to help me take Ella to her appointment at the hospital tomorrow by 12. I wanted to use this means to break the news to her. Okay, she replied looking at me with a suspicious look. do you have something you plan on doing tomorrow, you’re off by the time for her appointment. Yeah, but I have an all nighter so I won’t be available. I say casually trying to hide my nervousness in my voice. Absolutely not Kim, Victoria says looking at me with an expression of worry mixed with anger. You are no pulling an all nighter. “why would you accept to do something like that, you know we don’t do those kind of services for safety reasons.” Why Kim. Babe the pay is huge and you know I need all the money I can get, I need to be able to take care of Ella, and also add something to the money I’m saving for her surgery, even if I know I’m no where near the needed amount. I say to her I know , but you know you can ask me for anything even the littlest things and I wouldn’t mind , same goes with Naomi you not have to do this.she says giving me a worried look. I know I can ask you guys but I want to do this for myself and Ella. This way I can also get some of my part of the rent. “ I understand babe but don’t do something like this again this is going to be the last time , we’ll figure something out instead of this ,” she says and slaps me on the arm. “We don’t see you as a burden, nor do we see Ella as one. We’re all a family, Kim. We’ve got each other and you know we love you.” “I know, Victoria, but please, just let me do this. Please.” She shrugs. “Okay, if you insist. But you must share your location with us and always answer your phone when we call”. “Will do,” I laugh. “Yes, mummy.” “I’m serious. If you don’t agree to my condition, you’re not going.” “Alright, I accept. I’ll keep my phone close, updare you guys all through the night, kiss Ella goodnight for me.” Happy now, I ask her Yes I’m happy , she says laughing. As I step into the penthouse suite, using the keycard that Cain gave me. I’m met with soft Jazz, champagne and no client in sight. Only a note “ be comfortable. I’ll be there in five minutes”. The hotel screamed luxury , the air tinged with something expensive and masculine. I had a feeling my client was Mr mysterious who I’ve been feeling a has been watching me at the club. I’ve been in places like this before, glossy grand empty. Clients who were cold and distant. Even though I didn’t like having friendly relationships with my clients. But still something about being in his space, made my spine straighten and nervous a little bit. I didn’t know what to expect. Victorias call brought me out of my thoughts. Hey babe. I’m fine. He’s not here yet. But the room is marvelous I can’t lie. Was just about to freshen up to make sure I don’t stink and change into something good. Talk later, Kiss Ella goodnight for me. Bye. Since he wasn’t here yet I might as well shower and prepare myself for what is coming. Nicholas pov I wonder what she’s doing and how she reacted to the note and the empty room. I enter the room with no sight of her, wondering wheee she could be as I looked around the huge suite in search of her. Only to hear water splashes coming from the bathroom. I sat down on the sofa, and undid the top buttons of my shirt. She came out of the bathroom in her robe with the whole room smelling of her, a mixture of coconut and vanilla. This gave my whole body the jitters and I couldn’t wait to get a hold of her so I could bask in her small for a long time. I didn’t stand up when she entered, I just looked at her, slow and deliberate, twirling the glass of whiskey I had poured for myself. She was of course gorgeous. I’d expected that. What I hadn’t expected was the way she looked at me, like she had seen it all before and walked away untouched. Like she would walk through fire and not blink. It irritated me and at the same time fascinated me . In just few minutes I’ve met her I’ve gone through digest kinds of emotions and she brought that out of me. “I’ve had a long week”, I said circling her slowing also trying to hide the fact that I wanted her and was also nervous. “ You’re here to help me relax, what does that look like to you”. Depends, are you the type who wants to be in control, or the type who pretends he’s not ? She asked me with a pointed look on her face. I held her gaze with an unbothered but intrigued stare, “which do you think it is then.” I’ll go with the former, she replies me, for a split second, I saw something flicker across her face. A twitch of the mouth. A tension in her shoulders. Then it was gone. “ then let’s not waste any more of your money.” She stepped on closer - too close tilting her chin up so her mouth could be at the same level as mine. I drift away from her, “ this isn’t what I want Kimberly”. I just want to talk that’s all.
