Gabriel sobbed and collapsed on the couch. He was heartbroken and devastated, trying to process everything in his mind.
Marrying Lilian was beginning to appear as the biggest mistake of his life.
“Are you fine over there?" Do you need to speak with someone?
"I do not want you to be unhappy all the time just because you have a wife.” Lilian spoke slowly as she moved closer to Gabriel to comfort him, but he pushed her away.
At this point, he would prefer not to interact with her.
“Do not dare to touch me,”
He yanked Lillian off him.
. “Is this how a good wife ought to treat her husband?" How did I find myself in this situation?” he yelled at her before adjusting her position.
Lilian did not give up as she moved closer to him again. She hoped they could talk things out and blow off any problems they might be having.
What do you want to accomplish? When I am here, it is not happening, so I just hope it is not what I am thinking. Gabriel looked up at her with a contemptuous expression.
Gabriel never gave a damn about Lillian again. After listening to her parents discuss the divorce process, his unwavering love for Lilian is starting to wane like the evening sun.
Lilian put her hands around his neck and pretended to smile in an attempt to persuade him and possibly lift his depressed spirits.
Gabriel was enraged by this and had to get to his feet.
He cautioned Lilian, pointing his fingers at her, saying, "Will you please give me some breathing space already?" I have no desire to do anything at this time. I suggest you leave me alone.
Gabriel's scream woke his in-laws from their room.
They were unaware that Gabriel was still around. They believed he had left when he learned about the divorce proceedings.
I thought I heard Gabby yell at our daughter. Is he angry ?” When Grace heard Gabriel's booming voice, she told her husband.
I heard the voice, of course. I will not act as if I didn't. Give it up. It is not worthwhile.” Charleston inquired of her.
Grace snarled, “That is audacity for me.”
“Gabriel is a frail individual. "He will not have the guts to pull any stunt." Charleston reassured and encouraged Grace to ignore their son-in-law and concentrate on their conversation.
Grace muttered and submitted to her husband's suggestion. Grace overheard the same yelling, this time louder.
“Nah! I am going there to put a stop to this madness,” Grace hurriedly tossed off the bed and into the living room, where Charleston grabbed her.
I know you are upset right now about what is going on. Lilian is also my daughter. "Do I have to remind you that she is also my daughter?" He eased her nerves.
"Okay fine.
Let's do it your way,”
Charleston finally succumbed to his wife's order.
They limped into the living room and, as previously discussed, hid elsewhere to monitor the situation.
Why are you making it difficult for us? Don't you think before making drastic decisions?
"I have done everything possible to fix this, but you are still adamant. "What have I ever done wrong?” Lillian said softly, using the victim card to make Gabriel feel bad for humiliating her.
Unfortunately, her antics did not work on Gabriel. He had never been so overwhelmed by a situation.
Lilian cannot deny that she had never seen Gabriel in such a mood before. It was as if some strange spirit had taken over his soul.
"What is wrong with Lilian? At this point, I am beginning to question whether she is my biological daughter. She is not even acting like me.” Grace spoke softly to her husband.
She dislikes how Lillian stoops too low to beg Gabriel and feeds his ego.
Our daughter is in love, and we should honor that. She cannot bear to see him go. "Don't you think we should return and leave them alone?” Charleston provided the suggestion.
He was beginning to see his flaws in invading his daughter's and son-in-law's privacy.
Liliana is old enough to decide what is best for her. "Do you think we should allow that to happen?” He went on to say.
“No,” Grace said bluntly.
She is not concerned if Gabriel hears her.
Not within my lifetime. You are aware that I will not accept that. We have to do it our way.
Following the brief silence, Lilian said, “I cannot keep enduring this anymore.”
What are you talking about? You sound out of tune. "Do you want us to see a therapist ?” Gabriel stood up and approached her, his heart racing.
“Gabby, damn the therapist. In this case, they are unable to assist.
I thought you wanted to say something. I am ready to let it all out now,” she said, facing the wall.
I have my doubts about your seriousness. If you have the balls, look in my direction and speak to me,” Gabriel challenged her.
“Really? Is this what you are looking for? I am done with this caricature of a wedding. I want us to go our separate ways,” she said calmly as she turned to face him.
. It took her a couple of minutes to gather the courage to speak up.
She immediately felt a sense of relief inside her, as if her burden had been lifted from her chest.
I will pretend you did not just say that. "This is nothing but a crazy joke,” Gabby laughed and pretended he had no idea what she was talking about.
D
“I am confident you heard me at first, didn't you? Or have you suddenly lost your hearing?” She repeated her words, growing more confident in her approach with a new kind of energy.
Grace smiled effortlessly as she watched Lilian do what she would always want.
“We can solve this, Lilian. You cannot just call off your marriage like that.
After what we have been through together? Come on, I believe we could settle this amicably,” Gabby begged for another chance to speak with his in-laws about his flaws and, hopefully, fix them.
Lilian is the only girl he has ever loved, and he cannot imagine his life without her.
“Do you see it? That is what I am talking about. You cannot even make decisions for yourself. Gosh! You are incredibly weak.
How did I end up with a person like you? My parents were correct, after all. Your appearance genuinely disgusts me. The divorce may be the best thing that ever happened to me.
“You cannot say that to me. "I am always weak when I am with you because your love has intoxicated me.” Gabby explained his weakness.
Taking her by the arm, he asked her if she wanted to end the marriage while glancing into her eyes.
He cautioned her, “I just do not want you to regret what you did.”
. She shouted at Gabby, “I do not want to be around you anymore,” and nearly punched him in the face out of frustration.
“Can't you let her go?” Grace dashed from her hiding place, and Charleston followed her.
“Oh, I recognized it. "I should have known your parents were behind your decision to let go,” Gabby cried upon seeing his in-laws.
Don't say their name. This has nothing to do with them,” Lilian retorted to Gabby, defending her mother.
“Lilly, step aside. I am going to handle this myself. You do not have to worry about exchanging words with this lunatic,” Grace dashed inside the room.
She stood in front of Lilian and hurled despicable words at Gabby, shattering his heart into pieces.
He could not speak or clap back at them. He just stood there like an i***t.
Lilian felt sorry for Gabby as she looked into his tearful eyes. She would rather not do it, but her parents' pressure forced her to.
Gabby would not even consider divorce if she were rich.
“That is enough, mum!” You were not supposed to be here. I was going to handle it my way,” Lily cried, shunning her mother.
"Is this my motherfucking thanks for sticking by you?" You do not deserve the peasant standing next to you.”
Grace explained without remorse, “I could not help but speak when I noticed your reluctance.”
"I cannot stand here listening to your nonsense.” Gabriel loses his cool.
Come back here, you i***t. "How dare you walk out on your in-laws like that?" Charleston called back, but Gabby did not answer.
He just ignored them, as if they did not exist. Charleston said nothing during the conversation.
He could not take the humiliation he received from Gabby after walking away from them.
Lilian attempted to pursue Gabby, but her mother intervened. "What are you doing?"
I would like to know where he is going. Didn't you notice how he walked out? He could be hit by a vehicle or something," Lillian explained.
"Who cares if he gets knocked down by a moving plane? I really do not care about him. I am relieved that he is gone for good. When he returns, he would find his clothes outside, Grace smirked. She's happy to see Gabby leave.
