CHAPTER 2 Letting Go!

“What the heck are you doing here, Gabriel?" You are pushing me, and I am not comfortable with it. You were not supposed to be here.

You are supposed to be working, overseeing the company's operations.

"Isn't that why you married my daughter, you Gold Digger?” Charleston summoned the courage to speak up when everyone else couldn't.

Gabriel ignored him as if he never existed, staring at Lilian with a million questions in his head that he found difficult to answer.

Gabriel held back his tears and pretended to be strong, but deep down inside, his soul was wounded after learning the most painful truth.

“What did you just say?”

Gabriel wept.

"You hear me, Gabby. Keep me from waiting. As you are well aware, I detest being shunned, and you are essentially intentionally doing that.

"Are you now unable to speak because you are so deaf and dumb?” Despite receiving no response, Charleston persisted in irritating Gabriel.

I refuse to believe your presence was a coincidence. How long have you been listening to us?

I hope you understand that it is wrong to invade people's privacy. I demand an apology right now,” he said, launching another provocative question at Gabriel.

Lilian could not take the humiliation Gabriel was receiving any longer. She pitied him and blamed herself for everything that had occurred.

If she had not given Gabriel the green light to love her in school, they might not be in such a difficult situation now.

She remembered Gabriel practically shunning other girls just to be with her. Unfortunately, he had to receive an unusual reward.

“Dad, do not be too hard on Gabriel. These words were too harsh for him. He deserves to be able to breathe fresh air.

Can't you see how worried and agitated he is already? Allow it to slide, please. It is not worthwhile. I understand what I am saying.” Lilian warned her father about Gabriel's defense.

. Despite everything that has happened, she maintains her sense of belonging and believes Gabriel deserves better.

"Suddenly, you want to defend yourself and paint your mother and me as the bad guys, right?” Charleston mocked Lilian and treated Gabriel like rubbish.

Gabriel was unconcerned by Charleston's banter.

He usually remained silent to observe. Finally, he said, “I need to talk to you, Lilian. I guess your father is so old that he forgot it is Sunday.

Who works on a Sunday, anyway? Your father does not understand how you feel. He has not visited the company in a few months. I will be in the living room if you would like to join.”

“Okay. I will be with you soon.

"I just need some more time to finish this,” she acknowledged with a nod.

And where do you think you are headed? "You must be a fool to think I will let you see that weakling,” Charleston said, grabbing Lilian's hands and stopping her from leaving.

“Who is going to stop me?" Dad, just let me be.” In her rage, she broke free.

Her eyes flashed red. Her tone reflects her anger. If he had not been her father, she would have treated him badly and come to regret her actions.

"Haven't you both done enough already?" Let the poor man breathe. Do not suffocate him. Lilian threatened her parents, sobbed, and left them.

"Did you notice what transpired? "Are you simply going to watch her go in that way?” Charleston went up to Grace soon after Lilian left.

Your daughter has the right idea about this. Allow the young man to be himself.

"We cannot take away this moment from him; he needs it.” Grace's answer astounded him.

After being ignored by his daughter, Charleston believed he would receive all the help he needed from his wife.

Gabriel's words so humbled Grace that she no longer felt the need to say anything more.

She then left her husband to think about his feelings and left Lilian's room.

Although she regrets what she did, her ego prevents her from apologizing to Gabriel and making amends.

"Is that it? Are you all abandoning me now? Okay, that is okay.

This will not make me react. With a mother and daughter, what did I expect?” He fumed.

There was no one to vent his annoyance to, so Charleston sparked ridiculously. After swallowing his pride, he also went to his room.

Gabriel was out of Lilian's grasp. He turned to the wall to take in the events of the past few minutes, while she stood far away.

For him, it was more like a hallucination than reality.

“I am shocked that I allowed myself to be duped for so long.

Ah! I should have long since noticed the warning signs that were all around me.

But no, I was too absorbed in love and forgot about the world around me.” Gabriel sobbed because he felt isolated. His cheeks lined up, and tiny tears rolled down his aching eyes.

Lilian stammered, speaking from a distance, her back to the ground, “Do not say that-please.” When he heard her voice, Gabriel instantly dried his tears.

Even her eyes cannot meet mine. He complained, “It is clear that I no longer mean anything to you.”

“Shh! Keep that to yourself." Despite Lillian's hasty attempt to silence Gabriel with a kiss, he was not fooled.

The situation has completely overwhelmed Gabriel, but it has also made him smarter.

“Take those filthy hands off me.

I will not be moved by your tricks anymore. I have finally broken free from your spell.

I want you to look me straight in the eyes and announce that you are divorcing me. I do not want to believe the words coming from your father's mouth,” he challenged Lilian.

In panic, she drew back.

She wanted to say something but refrained. The words seemed too heavy for her to say.
