Lucas didn’t wait for anyone. The moment he ended the call, he stormed out of the hospital building like a man ready to break something. His steps were fast, sharp, and angry. His jaw was locked so tightly that Rose wondered how he was still breathing. “Lucas!” Rose hurried after him, her heels clicking loudly on the floor. “Lucas, wait—” He didn’t slow down until he reached the parking lot. Only then did he turn to face her, his eyes still filled with stress and fury. “I’ll drop you home,” he said in a low voice. “I have something to attend to.” Rose’s heart tightened. She wanted to stay with him, to help, to comfort him but she could see he was no longer thinking like a husband. Right now he was thinking like a brother hungry for revenge.
