“EARTH TO KELLY. Come in Kelly.” Her sister walked around like she was in a fog ever since Emma drafted her that morning to go costume shopping with her. Just as she promised herself Saturday, she took Monday off for some personal time, and she forced her sister to be a participant. With just over a week until Halloween, Emma had no intention of risking all the best costumes being gone. As it was, she was afraid she already waited too long. She surprised Kelly this morning at her sister’s townhome, begging for a shopping partner. “Halloween’s almost here,” Emma said when she pounded on Kelly’s door that morning. “All the best costumes are either going to be gone or tried on by some skank who doesn’t shower.
