Although the path to our school is wide and open like a modern city road, I always choose to take the back road. It's a jungle pathway with humps and bumps, but it's lined with a beautiful flower bed that makes the journey all the more worthwhile.
I love to be surrounded by nature, mother-earth. It's so elegant and beautiful, especially when the morning sun's rays touch the ground, you will be in a different world. Those morning lights passing through the large dense trees make the whole jungle bright and awake, along with the sweet melody of singing birds. This is simply the best thing to experience.
Biking along the back road to school makes me feel fresh and happy. It's a chance to have some alone time before the school day begins. I'm always relieved when I reach the back gate before my sister Emma. It gives me a little extra time to collect my thoughts before the day's hustle and bustle begins.
I reluctantly parked my bike and headed towards my boring lecture. As I walked through the corridor, I suddenly heard the cracking voice of William and his gang. My brother Alan was with them, and I knew they must be bullying someone new. It was their regular routine. As I walked closer to them, I noticed a girl from behind who was their target.
I guess she must be a new girl in our school. This stupid Jerk and his group will never get tired of bullying. Bunch of Idiots..!
I knew I had to do something to help the girl, or else William and his gang would make her life miserable. Without hesitation, I changed my direction and walked towards her.
'Hey, what's going on?' I said while I marched towards them.
Then William, the jerk, slowly raised his head and shook it off with a smirk. I could tell he had recognized me.
'Nothing so important for a Tomboy like you.' William barks at me while others laugh.
'Do you always bark?' I said while staring at his eyes to ease off their laugh.
"I don't bark. I howl," William replied with pride. He knew I couldn't shift, and he took every opportunity to remind me of it.
"Shut up, you jackass jerk!" I shouted at him, feeling irritated as always about the non-shifting comment.
'Really? What can a tomboy like you do?' William says with a smile, making his group smirk.
"Well, have you forgotten so soon?" I taunted him, trying to make him angry. "Poor jerk... he can't even keep up with his own memories."
My insult struck a nerve, and William and his group were instantly enraged. I could see his wolf on edge as my beloved brother shouted at me, trying to calm the situation.
'Roselina, get the hell out of here otherwise.' Alan says while I cut his sentences out.
'Otherwise, what Alan?' I challenged him, knowing it would make him furious.
A group of his team members tried to get up from their place while I yelled at them by saying, 'I don't give a dam s**t about your dog group. Just go and die somewhere else.'
William let out a loud growl, causing everyone to take a step back in fear.
"I'll get you, you little brat, when I..." William was speaking, but I cut him off again.
'I know when you become a stupid Alpha Jerk. You don't have to remind me of that.' I retorted, grabbing the new girl's hand and quickly making a run for it. We had to get out of their way.
I am sure they will get revenge on me for insulting their future Alpha.
I can't let my guard down. I don't want that new girl to get in trouble with them.
'Thank you for your help.' the new girl said.
'Oh, don't worry about it.' I said.
"You seem very brave. Aren't you afraid of talking to our future Alpha?" she said.
'No, not really. They are just a bunch of jackasses in our school.' I said while making her smile.
'By the way, I am Julie. Nice to meet you...' she said by stretching her hand.
'Roselina, my name is Roselina, but you can call me Rosey.' I said.
'Oh, nice to meet you, Rosey.' She said as she looked at her timetable.
'Need any help?' I said.
"Yes, I'm actually looking for my history class," she replied, pointing to the schedule in her hand.
'Well, then follow me towards that boring class.' I said.
We both walk down the corridor and arrive at our history class a bit early compared to other students, which gives me some reassurance. During our walk, we chat about ourselves, and I find Julie to be very friendly, intelligent, and with excellent grades.
She struck me as hardworking, shy, and gentle - a truly amazing person! After chatting for a few minutes, other students started to arrive, and our lesson began.
I kept checking my watch, waiting for the lunch break to finally arrive. And finally, after a few hours of classes, the bell rang, indicating that it was finally time for lunch! Yeh!!
We were walking towards the canteen, chatting about the boring history class, when suddenly I bumped into someone else.
'Hey, I am sorry.' I said.
No, no, it's fine. It was my mistake,' a guy with dark chocolate eyes says.
He seemed to be struggling to balance his lunch and notes with just one hand, so I offered to help by taking his notes.
'You are welcome.' I said.
I can see the surprise on his face when I offer to take his notes, but he quickly recovers and flashes a grateful smile.
'Thank you, miss...' he says.
'Roselina or you can call me Rosey.' I said.
'Well, Miss Rosey. Thank you for your help.' he says.
'No worries, Mr.' I said.
'Colin, my name is Colin,' he says.
‘I've never seen you here before. Are you new to the school?' I said.
"'Oh, I'm new here. Just transferred from another school," Colin replied with a smile, grateful for the help with his notes.
We chatted a bit more while walking towards the canteen. I find his sense of humour refreshing, and unlike those jerks, he doesn't give off a bad vibe.
I introduced him to Julie, ‘meet my friend Julie.' I said, while pointing towards Julie.
'Nice to meet with you, Julie.' Colin said.
'Nice to meet you too, Mr. Colin,' Julie said.
'Well, are you heading somewhere else?' I asked, glancing at the notes in my hand that I had taken from Colin.
'No, not really. Actually, I came here for lunch, and I mistakenly bumped into you. So, I am here.’ he says, flirting.
'Oh, really? We, too, came here for lunch and got stuck with some guy called Colin.' I said, rolling my eyes at Colin's feigned innocence, which made Julie chuckle.
'May I have the pleasure of joining with beautiful, charming ladies?' he says with his puppy eyes trying to impress us.
"Unless you drop your act," I exclaimed, rolling my eyes. "Well, lucky for you, the canteen is just over there," I added, gesturing towards the entrance. Colin grinned and followed us as we walked towards the lunchroom.
Colin turned out to be an easy-going guy with a great sense of humour. We talked about our interests and hobbies and found out that we had a lot in common.
Then the three of us walked to a corner table, where I ordered pasta for lunch, and Julie ordered a pizza. Colin had already ordered fries and a burger and was eagerly waiting for us at the table. After getting our orders, we all sat down together at the same table.
'So Rosey. Please, tell us something about you.' Colin says.
'Yeh, Rosey, I thought of asking you earlier, but I didn't get a chance to ask you this question.' Julie says.
"I find my life pretty boring and not fascinating. I have an older brother named Alan and a younger sister named Emma. They both attend this same school, but to be honest, they can be a pain in the butt sometimes. So, if I were you, I'd stay clear of them. As for my family, my dad is the beta of The Moonlight Pack," I explained to Colin and Julie as we sat down at the corner table, having just received our lunch orders.
'So, you are the daughter of Beta?' Colin says with his eyes wide open.
'Just for the name,' I said with a sad smile.
It looks like they both understood the double meaning of my words, so they quickly change the topic.
"'Don't worry, we'll always stick around to cheer you up like sticky glue,' Colin said with a smile.
'Good for you.' I said with a smile.
'So, what about yourself, Colin?' I asked.
