The Disappointment

I got up, ate, showered and got ready to face the music. I asked the Alpha and my dad to please meet me in the office after morning training, I told them I had a confession to make and would accept any punishment Alpha Thomas gave me. I trudged up the stairs like I was going to face a firing squad, I knocked on the door to Alpha Thomas's office and opened the door to find him and my father, former beta Theodor Levi waiting for me. " Son what's up? " my dad and Alpha Thomas asked in unison and then laughed at each other. I watched the two most important men in my life be pals for a minute and then sober up and get serious again, they look over at me waiting for me to tell them what's up, I know I'm about to disappoint them both, but if I want Leticia to be mine this is the first step in healing our relationship. " Dad....Alpha.....I...I found my mate " they both got really excited and clapped me on the back and congratulated me, they realized I wasn't smiling and asked what the issue was " is she from a different pack....is she already involved with someone......is it a man? " I swear my father can't take anything serious " no she's from this pack....its Leticia " you could've heard a pin drop in the room several floors down with how silent the room got. " So you're telling me that you've know for almost 5 years that Letti is your mate and you said nothing to no one?! " my dad bellowed, " you know she's been waiting for her mate, s**t the whole pack knows " Alpha Thomas looked at me " son why didn't you say anything, is it because she doesn't have a wolf? ", I nodded and told him I thought I would lose my position as beta " that doesn't matter to me I wouldn't have taken your rank away Teddy, s**t I love Letti like a daughter and now that she has no one she needs her mate " my dad slammed his fist into the wall " you f****d up son, does she know? " I told them what happened after her shift last night and how I lost my s**t after some dude tried to walk her home from the bar. My dad laughed " wait wait....so you've been stalking her home since her senior year Teddy? " I sighed this man takes nothing seriously, " its not stalking dad I was making sure she got home safely ", they both started laughing like loons and I felt like s**t " she tried to reject me last night " I said it quietly but I know they heard me, Alpha Thomas said " that's my girl, don't take no s**t from nobody " and my dad snickered " ya know Thomas, I always liked that girl ". They asked me if she completed the statement, I lowered my head " I...um I covered her mouth before she could finish " my dad hollered and Alpha Thomas doubled over laughing " man I hate you guys......respectfully ".

" Now Teddy you know we have to punish you, not claiming ones mate is as serious as rejecting them, its frowned upon in our pack " I nodded and waited for them to tell me what my punishment is. They huddled talking in whispers and motioning with their hands, they both turned and looked at me, shook their heads and went back into the huddle, they came back out of the huddle and walked over to me. Dad squeezed my shoulder and Alpha Thomas asked me to sit, " Teddy....son " he said " we have decided that your punishment is to go over to Leticia's house and do all you can to get that girl to fall in love with you " I joined my eyes and my mouth dropped open "wha...what? " I looked at the 2 partners in crime and saw them struggling to gain their composure. " Ooooh damn, she's going to kill me....she's going to kill me and feed my ass to Shadow " I fall into the couch " Alpha please, send me to Siberia, lock me in the dungeon for a few months, anything but this! " the 2 numb nuts busted out laughing as I walked out of Alpha's office on shaky legs, last thing I heard was my dad struggling to breathe " she's going to eat him alive ". I walked out of the pack house and started walking through the woods on my way to Letti's place, when I got there I hesitated to knock on her door. All I heard was Shadow scratching and whining behind the door, I guessed she was at work, I'll do my usual and go wait for her to finish and see if she would let me walk her home tonight. I stripped, put my clothes in my mouth and ran to the spot in the woods closest to the diner and waited. The scent of meat and pies and coffee filled my nostrils, I then remembered I had been so nervous about talking to my dad and the Alpha that I had skipped breakfast and now I was extremely hungry, it was damn near afternoon and I hadn't had a bite to eat all day. I crossed the street and walked into the diner, the little bell above the door announced my arrival to everyone inside, I walked to the table at the very back of the diner and sat down and made myself busy reading the nenu. I decided on a full english breakfast and waited until someone came to serve me, I smelt her before I looked up and saw her " good afternoon Ted how can I help you " I smiled at her and she all but grimaced at me, wiping the smile off my face. " Hey can I please have a full English breakfast, but with coffee instead of earl grey tea please " she spun on her heel and walked into the kitchen, she came back over and poured me a cup of coffee, I grabbed her hand when she started to walk away again " Letti please talk to me, I can't stand it " she huffed out a sharp breath and said " it's not like we do a lot of talking on a regular basis Ted " I sighed " and that's on me I was being a selfish ass, can you please give this a chance, you promised "

" Ok Ted what do you want to talk about?, you've got me as long as it takes the cook to prepare your food " I held her hand and pulled her down next to me, she sat but she took her hand out of mine " Alpha has told me my punishment of sorts, anything you need done on your home or property is my responsibility and I can't complain or refuse " I embellished a little on my punishment, she chuckled " old man Thomas thinks he's slick, he just wants you to spend more time around me hoping we'll let the mate bond bring us together " I laughed and shook my head " Yup " " I don't mind though, so any repairs you want done anywhere? ". She shook her head then she said " you said my home or my property right? " I nodded. " Well I recently took ownership of the bar and diner soooooooo, any remodeling I want done here counts as my property right? " I nodded again, she said she'd get a list of tasks to be done and let me know. I was just happy that I wouldn't only be spending a lot of time at her home but also when she was at work. My food was ready and she left to bring it to me, it was pretty good, the baked beans were surprisingly delicious, while I was finishing up my late breakfast the guy who wanted to walk her home came in and sat at the counter. He ordered a burger and fries to go, they talked and with my enhanced hearing I heard him ask my mate out. She looked over to me and our eyes met, he looked behind him to see what she was looking at and when he saw me he raised his eyebrows and asked her if we were dating. " I don't date Raymond, I told you I was waiting for my mate " he nodded " but you know there's nothing wrong with having a little fun until you find him Letti " he collected his food and while walking out he asked her if she would be working the bar tonight, she said no and he asked her to dinner " I promise, I won't try anything I just want to sit and eat with you maybe have some light conversation, get to know you better and talk about old times " my heart was in my throat, Letti looked at me again " ok Ray, I'll meet you back here at 7 30 " when he kissed her on the cheek and walked out whistling I swore I felt my heart break just a little. She came over, took my used plates and utensils then walked back into the kitchen, when she came back out I was gone. I walked back to the woods and took out my frustration on a very large red oak tree, when I caught myself my knuckles were bruised and bloodied, I had stripped almost all the bark of the spot where I was punching and my shirt was soaking wet with my blood, sweat and believe it or not tears. I was crying while I pummeled that poor tree, she accepted, she said yes to a date, with the human, I mean nothing's wrong with that some wolves are mated to humans, but she knows she's not his mate. Is it to get me jealous, I doubt it, Leticia's not like that, she doesn't play games and wouldn't do this just to get me jealous and the guy had said " old times " which indicates she knows him. " f**k! " I shouted disrupting the quiet in the woods, I decided to go get cleaned up and come back to walk Letti home later, when I got to the pack house Rick was outside sweet talking one of the kitchen omegas, I shook my head, this man was going to have a whole lot of hateful women on his hands when he found his mate. He saw me and raised an eyebrow " what the hell happened to you man? " I waved it off " had a run in with an old red oak in the woods, blowing off some steam is all " he dismissed the omega and followed me up to my room, " you got girl problems Ted, I can help you, I'm quite the ladies man " I rolled my eyes " if I need help using a woman and then breaking her heart I'll be sure to call you Rick " he faked gasped and looked very insulted by what I'd just said " all of the women I sleep with know what's what, they know they're never going to be my Luna, we're just having fun " I stop and look at him " Rick you do know that all these women have a mate somewhere out there also waiting on them right? How do you think those guys would feel knowing you already defiled their mate? How would you feel if there's some guy out there right now giving your mate the fu..." he growled " don't you dare finish that sentence beta " he used his Alpha aura and I had no choice but to submit and shut my mouth, he stormed away grumbling about me being a jealous bastard. I chuckled and went inside to take a shower and change before I went back to walk Leticia home.

She was coming out the door when I arrived, unlike the times before I stepped out of the brush and came up to her " Leticia may I walk you home? " she turned to me " oh you're asking now? " I grabbed her hand and turned her to face me " Leticia please " she nodded, she also didn't let go of my hand and I wasn't going to say s**t about it, it felt phenomenal. The turn off to her house came too quickly for me, whatever spell we were under wore off as she let my hand go to fish her keys out of her bag, having found them she just held them in her hands until we reached her porch, she looked around at me and told me " thank you Ted " I nodded and asked if she had anything she wanted done right now, she asked if I would be ok to take Shadow out for a walk, I told her as long as Shadow was ok with it I would do it. She opened the door and a blur of black came barreling through the door almost knocking me off my feet, Shadow was all wagging tail and tongue, my hands and face was good and wet time I got him off me. Leticia was looking at us in shock " he likes you! " I asked if that was a surprise, she looked at us again as I scratched behind his ears " he doesn't like ANYBODY, like not even when Alpha visits, he'll stay in the kitchen " " he growls at Rick and he will sit with his tail between his legs if Luna is here to deliver some stuff she got me, but he likes you, he really likes you, I guess that walk won't be a problem " I asked her for his leash and asked if it was ok for me to let him off his leash for a run or to play, she said he doesn't really run and play when she lets him off " well to be fair Leticia he doesn't usually have anyone to chase or play with. She raised an eyebrow and asked " but he's usually the only wolf out here who is he gonna...." I held my hands out and patted my chest " we are gonna tear these woods apart this evening, let's see how fast your boy is " She was speechless, " you would do that for him, shift and let Hayden play with him? " I was surprised she knew my wolf's name " yeah " I said softly.

I attached Shadow's leash to his collar and I took him out to a small clearing with a stream that Hayden likes to chill out by, I took his leash off and started to strip down, Shadow looked at me like I was crazy and sat down with his head c****d to the side, when I shifted and Hayden came out he stumbled backwards and his mouth dropped open it was the most comical thing I'd ever seen. Hayden yipped out a laugh and pounced on Shadow, he recovered quickly and Hayden took off into the woods with Shadow hot on his tail, I wanted to test his speed and endurance out so I urged Hayden to increase his speed and see if Shadow would keep up, he kept up and more, passing me twice to the point where Hayden increased our speed again. We were almost at full speed and her boy was still keeping up, we were very impressed. We ran and played for about an hour and a half before we made our way back to the stream for a drink and to cool off, I reattached his leash and shifted to put my clothes back on. Our walk back to the house was very energetic, Shadow was all over the place he almost tripped me four times, he was a happy boy, sometimes a wolf has just got to run. Leticia was on the porch waiting for us, I handed the leash over and she took Shadow inside for his food, she came back out and she hugged me. I think I was in shock, she snapped her fingers in front of my eyes and giggled " Ted ( snap snap ) Ted are you ok? " she giggled again when I blinked and came out of my daze. " Yeah yeah sorry that....that felt nice, I'm sorry " she told me it was fine and she thought it felt nice too. I asked if she needed anything else done before I left, she told me she would like me to walk with her into town, I asked if she had changed her mind and was going to work a shift at the bar, imagine my face when she asked me if I forgot she had a date. Of course I'd walk with her, I wanted her to be safe, but to walk her to town to basically hand her over to another man, I was pissed, my heart had yet another crack in it. I waited for her while she went inside to get ready, when she came outside my mouth dropped open, I've never seen her dressed up before, she was gorgeous...well more so than she already is. She was wearing a dress, it reached to her knees, too damn short if you ask me, it was moulded to her body like a second skin, it was green with a plunging neckline and I could see the soft sides of her breasts. " Wow, Leticia you're breathtaking " she told me thank you, locked her place up and we started walking towards town. I gave her my number so she could call me when she was finished, I walked her to where I could see the diner and she went the rest of the way, the guy that was taking her out Raymond or some s**t was walking up to her, he presented her with flowers and kissed her on the cheek. Hayden howled and whimpered in my head, seeing our mate kiss someone else, even on the cheek was too much for him. Before I knew what the hell was happening he took over, shifted, destroying my clothes in the process and took off for the woods, he ran around for a while before I was able to take back control and head for the pack house. I went to my room and took a shower, put on clean clothes and decided to go get some food before I headed back out to walk Leticia home. Hayden kept repeating the image of Letti kissing that guy's cheek and I was slamming cupboard doors and rough chopping meat and vegetables. I was scowling and biting into my sandwiches when my dad, Alpha Thomas and Rick came in " what's wrong with you dude, we could hear you slamming s**t all the way over by the training grounds ", I grumbled about Leticia's date but of course all three of them heard every word. " Wait...wait did I just hear you right son, she got ready for a date with another guy and got you to walk her over there? " my dad asked, " yes " I grounded out through my teeth. Rick went first, he was on the floor, tears coming out of his eyes, my dad and Alpha Thomas were hugging each other and doubled over with laughter, I bit into my sandwich and grumbled that I had to go walk her back later after her date. Well they had a field day with that one " so you're telling us, you not only handed her off to the competition, but you also have to go get her after he's done wining and dining her? " The 3 fools howled in laughter and damn near died from lack of oxygen, I finished my food and told them I was leaving to go get my mate from her date, I heard how ridiculous it sounded but it was made even more ridiculous when the 3 stooges almost killed themselves laughing. I walked out and took my time walking to the edge of the town to wait for Leticia. She did say she would give us a chance, maybe I should ask her out on a date too, I'd run it by her when I got her home safely, hopefully she says yes.
