BRITNEY “I can’t do it.” Mason darted up from his yoga mat, forcing my eyes to open. Josh slowly opened his eyes and turned around to face Mason. A week had passed, and this was the fifth time Mason had tried to get into a state of tranquility and couldn’t get his mind to calm down long enough to concentrate. “Yes you can,” Josh said very calmly, crawling over to Mason’s mat. “No I can’t.” “You aren’t trying.” “Yes I am!” “Follow my lead,” Josh sat on his knees in front of Mason, demonstrating once again the breathing technique. It was painful to watch. I, too, couldn’t get my brain to slow down long enough to even get close to a state of serenity, so I could relate to Mason.
