Betrayal!

Ariana At first, my mind refused to process as my heart shriveled up and died at that very moment. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! It couldn’t possibly be true! In front of me! On his bed! Totally naked and in a very strange position was Conner slamming into Emily! If I was naïve, I might even have believed the cliché that it was not what it looked like, but when they didn’t even react to me opening the door, I realized they were completely enthralled in what they were doing. “Yes, yes, yes! Deeper!” Emily shrieked and I felt nauseous! “Take it all baby!” Conner growled and I was just in time to watch as he poured his damn essence into her! She screamed in delight and as soon as she whipped around and flung her arms around his neck, she caught first sight of my horrified look. This couldn’t be! It had to be a nightmare! I pinched my arm to wake myself, but nothing happened as the three of us just stared at each other for a moment. I had questions! I had feelings! I was seriously turning green! But my mind and mouth forgot how to communicate with each other as Conner jumped up and wrapped the sheet around his waist. He closed the gap between us in record time and when his hands touched the bare skin of my upper arms, I pulled away feeling horrified. “I’m sorry, Ariana! She means nothing to me!” It was clear that he already knew I wouldn’t fall for the excuse that it wasn’t what it looked like. “Liar!” Emily sat on the bed, not caring that she was naked as the damn day she was born! “We are destined mates!” With that one little sentence, the person who was supposed to have been my best friend made my entire world crash down around me. I glared at Conner. “You two deserve each other!” I whipped around and stormed off not entirely sure where the hell I would go! Emily and I shared a room! Would she go there? I heard Conner calling after me, but I wasn’t in the mood to hear a word of what he had to say! He was a lying, cheating bastard and so was Emily! I didn’t care if they were destined mates! He should have rejected her the moment he found out! He should have come to talk to me about it. Emily should have told me! I didn’t realize I was crying until I had to wipe my eyes so I could see where I was going. I made my way to my room and, without thinking, started to throw things in my backpack. I looked at the books for only a moment before stuffing them in there as well. I knew I wouldn’t have a lot of time before Conner would be there. He was not going to let me go that easily. I was his ticket to a very high rank! Had they planned this all along?! Suddenly, the gestures between them that I had been avoiding all this time came to mind. The looks, the slight touches, and worst of all, how familiar they were with each other in front of me! Nausea pushed up again and I ran to the bathroom, emptying the contents of my stomach into the toilet. I quickly cleaned up and as I walked into my room the two traitors were standing there waiting for me. “Ariana, we didn’t mean for any of this to happen. Please, you have to listen to me.” Conner gripped my arm and I glared at him until he let go. I moved quickly to pack the last of my things. I couldn’t stand being near the two of them! I couldn’t stand being in the same room as them! I hated them both and I wanted to get away from there as fast as I could. I flung my bag over my shoulder and glared at them before stalking out of there. At that very moment, I couldn’t imagine even staying in the homelands a second longer. All I could think about was going home! I needed to go home! I took the stairs two at a time to get away from the two people following me and overheard Emily shouting at Conner while he was trying to stop me from leaving. “Let her go, Conner!” “NO!” “But I’m your mate!” Emily actually sounded hurt. “No! She is!” He growled. “Ariana, please wait! What about our life ceremony?” He caught up with me and his grip was even tighter than before, but I was a princess! I was one of the highest ranked in the werewolf world. I was also one of the strongest! I pulled from his grip and glared at him. “You must be insane! To think that I would ever want anything to do with you after this! You can kiss that damn rank you’ve been chasing so much goodbye, Conner. You can kiss me goodbye!” I growled and he took a step back. His face turned as white as a sheet and this time when I turned around to walk away, I knew he wouldn’t follow me. With my bag firmly secured on my back, I shifted and made my way to the border crossing. I wasn’t going to tell my parents I was coming. They would be furious that I left. And because of a boy they never liked. My anger grew even more as I thought of how I always had to defend him whenever my family was around! They warned me. They told me that he wasn’t good enough for me! I didn’t need their “I told you so’s” now! I needed my bedroom in my home where I always felt safe, even if I didn’t spend a lot of my time there. I needed to be near the spirits of my ancestors. I needed their strength to get through this! By the time I reached the border crossing, it was already getting dark and I had to beg the guard to let me through. The town was nearby and I would stay there for a day or two before making my way home.
