The next morning, Sophia woke up with a new sense of direction. Victor's kiss still lingered on her lips, and the smile that seemed to have made its home on her face was irrepressible. She showered and dressed in quick order, her head filled with visions of their time together. But then again, even in joy, the concern about Isabella weighed heavily in her heart. She walked to work, knowing she would need to call her sister later in the day to reassure her that she was there for her and they would get through it together. The morning flew by in a haze of meetings and emails; however, Sophia found herself counting down eagerly until lunchtime, when she could retreat to the small café down the street.
