Chapter 7: Mission Fails

My body felt as if all my bones had been crushed. I still couldn't fathom how someone could have that much strength. I looked up at the already darkened sky full of stars and casually entered the house without thinking that Young Master Richard would be waiting for me in the living room with an annoyed face. I was so surprised when I saw Young Master Richard wearing his hello kitty pajamas and sitting on the sofa with Bastian.

"...", I was speechless seeing the stares of the two of them.

"I'm really curious who can take over the head of my bodyguard who always faithfully accompanies me and doesn't leave me even one step, so that now he always takes his days off very well," said Young Master Richard so sarcastically and looked sullen.

I really couldn't say anything and just smiled shyly, I rubbed my not-itchy neck and tried to stay calm. I stepped my foot to approach Young Master Richard and greeted him, "Young Master, why aren't you sleeping yet?".

“Ha, there's no need to pretend you care about me. Introduce me to your lover so I can judge how beautiful she is to make you crazy about her,” said Young Master Richard, who immediately stood up and turned to leave.

"If she is good and according to what I want, maybe I will prepare a dowry for you to propose to her," said Young Master Richard, who walked up the stairs but turned back to look at me with a face that was still a little annoyed but a small smile on the corner of his lips could be seen.

“Haah”, I sighed, looking at Young Master Richard who had left.

I thought if Young Master knew that the person I often met was Lloyd, then instead of preparing a dowry, but I'm pretty sure he would prepare a coffin for Lloyd. I returned to my room and lay down on the soft bed and started to close my eyes.

My days went on as usual, practicing with the other bodyguards and then accompanying Young Master Richard and sometimes getting assignments from Young Master Caesar. Maybe it's because I'm one of the best bodyguards and the best fighter in this family, so even though I'm the head bodyguard of Young Master Richard, I'm also one of the bodyguards who often get assignments from Young Master Caesar like today, where I have to carry out missions from Young Master Caesar to supervise buying and selling weapons together with minor families. I wore a black sleeveless shirt with a gray checkered shirt that I left open and the sleeves rolled up to my elbows, a simple outfit with a blend of jeans. I keep my gun at my waist and a small knife I hide hidden in my ankle.

I'm leading a team of bodyguards on a mission this time. I'm used to leading bodyguards on missions, so I have no trouble at all, especially if the bodyguards on a mission are my own men or bodyguards from Young Master Henry. But it would be a different story if the team I led were bodyguards from Young Master Caesar, so I had to be more patient many times over and sometimes use force to get them to listen to me. Most of Young Master Caesar's bodyguards are alphas, so they are very stubborn and look down on betas, especially omegas, even though Young Master Caesar himself is a person who doesn't care about gender or sub-gender, but for some reason, his bodyguards are so annoying and look down on betas like me.

I got out of the car and immediately walked towards the Warehouse where the meeting for the transaction was made. The minor family as well as the main family had discussed today's mission and it should be the chief bodyguard of the minor family who would come to supervise and carry weapons to be sold to buyers. All the teams were ready and the minor's family who brought some of their products had also come, but I was surprised because Lloyd appeared to be getting out of his car along with his chief bodyguard, Kevin.

I was stunned for a few moments, especially when I saw Lloyd's neck, which clearly showed bite marks and red marks, and I didn't know who he had got it, because for the past month Lloyd and I hadn't seen each other at all. I don't know why I feel very uncomfortable seeing him and I really want to ask him a thousand questions, but I know that I have absolutely no right to ask him anything, besides what my relationship with him is. I feel crazy, especially when I feel Lloyd's pheromone scent mixed with someone's pheromone scent. The scent of omega is so sweet that it makes me immediately imagine the beautiful and gentle omega with a dazzling smile.

Our eyes met and made me unconsciously immediately avert my gaze. I sighed and immediately became Ryne, the head bodyguard and mission leader this time, but since Lloyd was there, it was certain that I had to listen to his orders. I'm experienced enough to keep my expression and put my mask on in front of everyone when it comes to Lloyd. I smiled politely and greeted Lloyd first, “Young Master Lloyd, I am Ryne Fritz, who leads the team from the main family. I hope we can all cooperate well."

Lloyd gave me his sly little smile and replied in a soft voice but had no idea what he was thinking and planning, “Sure, Ryne. I hope today's mission goes well. I hope you can understand if there are shortcomings in my team.”

All the weapons for sale have arrived and we will be waiting for the buyers to arrive around midnight. Two bodyguards from each team had just returned after buying dinner for their respective teams. I sat on one of the piles of wood on the side near the barn door, keeping watch and also eating my dinner. I ate my food, which was full of vegetables and only a few pieces of chicken, but suddenly a food box appeared in front of me which made me raise my head to see the person holding the lunch box right in my face.

“Hey, this is for you”, said a man my age who was also my former colleague and roommate.

“Oh, Hi. I haven't seen you since earlier, did you just come?” I asked the person who was now sitting cross-legged in front of me.

"Um, I was asked to buy a special dinner for Young Master Lloyd and do some things so I just arrived," said Nico, who looked relaxed eating his dinner.

I glanced at the food box that Nico had given me and I left the food box in front of me, then I glanced at Lloyd who seemed to be sitting on the other side while drinking his coffee. I looked back at Nico, who had stopped eating his dinner, which made me a bit surprised, but I only averted my eyes for a moment before saying, "You bought this for me?".

“No, it was Young Master Lloyd's dinner but he said he wasn't hungry and told me to throw it away, but I remembered that there was someone who really liked this food, so I asked Young Master to give it to him. Eat it, I didn't put poison or anything in it”, said Nico, who smiled a little but it was clear that he was teasing me a little.

My relationship with Nico is quite good and we can even be said to be close because we ourselves have known each other since we were still at the training ground and, even after becoming bodyguards for the main family, we lived in the same room even though I was assigned to look after Young Master Richard while Nico was assigned to look after Young Master Henry. My relationship is so close that I was very surprised when Nico suddenly chose to leave the main family and switch to being a bodyguard in the minor family. Nico didn't say a single word to me before leaving the main family. When I saw him again, Nico was already part of the minor family, but even though at first I felt awkward and always wanted to ask why he left the main family. But in the end, I never asked and just tried to accept his choice.

I took the food box and saw if it was my favorite food; Goulash. I remembered that Lloyd wasn't a person who could eat spicy food and tended to have a sweet tooth that was the opposite of his character and fierce appearance. I've also asked Lloyd to buy me Goulash a few times when we were together, so I know very well that he most likely did buy Goulash for me, so I'll be happy to spend it. I glanced at Nico and said casually “Thanks, tell your Young Master Lloyd.”

"Hm, just say it yourself, and shouldn't you be thanking me too?", said Nico, who had finished eating and had just had a drink.

"...", I didn't reply to his words anymore and focused on eating my Goulash with a happy heart because it'd been a long time since I'd eaten Goulash.

The buyer had come with his guards, which were quite a number even though there seemed to be twice as many as the people from the Satish family. Buying and selling weapons is indeed a very high risk, both from the government and from other groups, but what is more dangerous is if the buyer wants to cheat. Several cases have occurred before when a buyer purchased a weapon but did not pay off the payment and killed the sender of the weapon. Therefore, now the delivery of weapons for buying and selling is carried out very strictly with full guard.

But somehow, my feeling this time is that the possibility of a battle is very large, the number of weapons purchased is quite a lot, so the amount of money that must be given is definitely very large. Cheating can be done by both parties, so it is only natural that both of them carry out the strict guard.

Lloyd didn't seem to come straight down and instead stood at the back of the line and hid between the gun boxes. I don't know what he was planning because, since the first time we met, Lloyd had only spoken to me once and discussions about continuing the mission were only carried out by me and Kevin. I was beside Kevin who was handling the buyer, but my focus was not on Kevin but around us, especially the guards of this buyer. I noticed that some of the guards were alpha werewolves, which made me immediately raise my guard. I also immediately signaled the others to raise their guard and get ready to attack.

While exchanging weapons and money, suddenly gunshots rang out and a fight quickly ensued. As previously planned, if a fight occurs then Kevin will lead his team to take the weapons away and another team will handle the buyer. My team and I were well prepared to deal with the guards from the buyers to give Kevin time to carry away the weapons, but with twice the number of enemies, it would definitely be difficult for us to last long. I always try to keep the team safe and fight without causing the slightest loss to the team, so almost every battle I lead always returns with intact members, but this time I can't seem to do it. Everything was out of my control and I miscalculated the worst possibilities that might happen. After Kevin and his team managed to leave with the weapons, the team members from the other minor families quickly retreated without helping the main family's team who were fighting off the guards from the buyers.

I was stunned because our original plan wasn't like that and they should all help us deal with the buyers or if it's not possible to win, then we should pull ourselves together and at least manage to get one of the buyers back. But one could see that the minor family didn't seem to care and after Kevin managed to leave, they all just left without caring about our plans or our safety.

My mind was messed up seeing my team start to fall, a punch to my face made me down too and that's when I looked towards the side of the warehouse, Lloyd's face seemed to smile slyly at me. I felt goosebumps all over my body and the wounds on my body weren't a problem anymore because my heart seemed to suddenly become very cold and numb. I tried to get up but another blow hit my head, making me feel very dizzy and my eyes started to blur. I have felt the fishy taste of blood on my tongue, my head is dizzy and my eyes are hard for me to keep open. Everything was lost in the darkness and only the faint screams and gunshots I heard slowly faded away as well.
