Since business had been good lately, I didn’t keep the shop open very late anymore. Around six or seven in the evening, I’d close up, head to the bank, and deposit the day’s earnings at the ATM. Today was no different. After depositing the money, I thought about grabbing something to eat. So while crossing the street, I was a bit distracted. That moment of inattention almost got me hit by an oncoming motorcycle. Luckily, I reacted at the last second, stumbling aside to avoid it. But I still lost my balance and fell, my hand landing on a sharp stone that cut a deep gash. Instantly, blood stained half my palm.
