Adam walked out of the office sick and tired of all the mate talk. Of course he was happy for his friend because he had wanted his mate since forever, and he wouldn't have to go on anymore arranged dates with Annie's friends. That, of course, did NOT mean he wanted to hear X rave about his mate problems or find his own mate anytime soon, or at all. He walked into the living room to find Xavier's mate sitting on the couch rigidly, staring at the TV like it was the eighth wonder of the world.
"Uuh, Hi" he said sitting on the couch beside her and started putting popcorn into his mouth.
She jumped up startled and turned to look at him, then her eyes traveled lower until they landed on the huge bowl of popcorn on his lap and widened. She looked back up to his eyes, and he was taken aback, she was a beauty alright.
"Is that POPCORN?!" she exclaimed excitedly.
He stared at her for a second before replying. Her eyes were so weird, they reminded him of something he’d seen before for sure, he just couldn’t remember what. He couldn’t decide whether he liked her or not, but kept in mind that she was his future luna.
"Uh, yeah..." He dragged out "you want some?" He pushed the bowl to her face, still thinking about where he had seen those eyes before.
She slowly and delicately took the bowl in her small hands and put it on her lap. She stared at them for a while, and Adam stared at her, wondering what the heck she was doing. She looked just like a little kid that didn't know what to do. "You put them in your mouth" he said to her then reached over and grabbed a couple, "like this" he munched on the popcorn and she just stared at him, then smiled.
"I know, it's just I’m a bit skeptical to know if they are as good as they say" She asked looking at the popcorn again.
"WHAAAT?" Adam exclaimed incredulously "you mean you've never EVER had popcorn before?!"
"Well, not really, no. Let's say I haven't exactly been experiencing the world before now."
Adam tilted his head to the side. "What do you mean?"
"Well I know what everything is. I just haven't tried anything yet.
"Nothing, wow. I'm not gonna ask 'cause you probably don't wanna tell me. Anyways, I, my dear muchachita, will be your initiator!" He exclaimed happily.
"My initiator?" She c****d an eyebrow at him. She liked this kid, she decided. His aura was bright. He had killed, that much was clear, but his soul was good and that was the only thing that mattered to him.
"Yeah, I'll take you to whatever you want to try and, you know, give you moral support and shi- stuff" he smiled sheepishly, then crossed his arms and leaned back on the couch triumphantly.
She took a deep breath, smiled, and nodded. She then proceeded to take a single popcorn between her fingers, and put it in her mouth. She tasted the saltiness and the butter and her taste buds exploded, and her eyes grew wide, "I like this," she stated with a smile. She sat the bowl between them and proceeded to take a handful of popcorn and ate them little by little.
"OK, so what next. We have to start right away. There is too much for you to try" he got up and put his hands on his hips in a determined pose, while she just kept on eating popcorn.
"Mmmm, I've always wanted to try ice cream, but it's so cold outside" she shook her head, as if to dismiss the idea.
"Lucky for you" he said walking away "we don't have to go out, just to the next room, come on"
They walked into the kitchen and he went straight to the fridge. As told, Luci sat on a stool of the kitchen island, and Adam placed several containers in front of her. He then gave her a spoon "you have to try every flavor" and he grabbed a spoon for himself. "This is vanilla" he started off, "chocolate, strawberry, cookie dough this is my favorite" and they continued until they had tasted every flavor. After a while of spoonfuls of different flavored ice creams, he looked at her expectantly, "so, which one did you like more?"
"Strawberry cheesecake, I don't like the one with pecans" she told him scrunching her nose up and sliding the container away, then took another spoonful of the flavor she liked.
Adam laughed and put all the containers except two back in. "These babies are coming with us" and he started walking out with his cookie dough ice cream.
"Where are we going?" She asked, following along with her own ice cream. She felt the cold seep into her fingers through the cardboard container and she felt her body shiver.
"We have to get started right away, while X isn't hugging up all your time, or you'll never finish all there is"
She ignored the comment about Xavier and just kept following him as they passed the living room and he took the bowl of popcorn in his other hand. "What? Where are we going?" she asked, looking back longingly at the giant television they were living behind.
"To watch movies of course! There is so much to watch. Avengers, x-men, BATMAAAN, iron man, transformers, this is going to be epic" he said excitedly. "If only you could understand good old Pedro Infante movies" he sighed deeply "man, call me old school, but black and white Mexican movies are the real deal" he sighed melancholically.
"I speak Spanish, don't you know?" Luci asked, still walking behind him.
Adam looked at her weirdly, he furrowed his eyebrows together. "Oooh yeaaah" he dragged out "at the mall, yeaah, ha-ha my bad. This.is.awesome!" he exclaimed excitedly as they walked into an in-home theater.
It was dark outside by the time they finished the first Pedro Infante movie. Adam had, surprisingly well, sang along to every single song in the movie. "You know, these movies, they remind me of my family back in Mexico. When I was little my grandma used to watch all my cousins and me, and we would all watch these together. We drank coffee in the morning, sitting on the ground; we would sit on the cold, hard floor for hours just watching these" he sighed deeply and cleared his throat "there isn't anyone here that can understand them though. And there are some with English parts but the guys think I'm lame for watching black and white movies and yada yada. Anyways!" He took a deep breath. Remembering his grandma always made him sad, and those movies were a treasure to him. Plus, they were really good movies.
"I like Pedro Infante" Luci said to him sincerely, she could see how talking about his grandmother saddened him, and reached the conclusion that she was dead. It was sweet to see the big tough beta cherish those sweet memories of sitting on the floor. The thought made her smile "can we watch another one?"
"Are you kidding? I have at least a hundred between him and cantinflas" he started laughing. "You know what? You HAAAVE to watch this one movie where this guy pretends to be a homeless person and he gets hired by a rich family as a driver, it’s hilarious."
"O-okay" Luci was a little overwhelmed by his excitement, but she could understand that he was really into this stuff and he probably missed his grandma a lot. She just now really had no idea what he was talking about. She didn't even know what that name was from. "Beta, what is a Cantinflas?"
Adam burst out laughing, while surrounded by movies on the ground. "First of all, señorita" he said in a reprimanding tone "my name is Adam, and it's not a what, it's a who. He was this guy, he was like, super funny he always plays with words and it's like a street character kind of thing; you have to watch it to understand it really" he shrugged his shoulders and turned to look for the specific movie he wanted to find. His ice cream container was long forgotten on the floor, beside his seat, inside the empty popcorn bowl.
Right as the ending song to the second movie started, and the scene zoomed out, Xavier peeked his head through the door. Luci was instantly hyper aware of his presence in the room. He stepped in and smiled at them, then looked at the TV and he let out a hopeless sigh. "He's got you watching that?"
"What's wrong with it?" She asked him defensively as she turned in her seat to look at him, "old movies are the best" she quoted Adam. She hadn't gotten to actually watch a more recent movie, so she didn't really know any better, but she trusted Adam’s cinographic taste.
"Great, he's got you thinking like him too," Xavier said shaking his head, but kept the smile on his face as he walked closer to them. "We should head up, so I can show you to your room" he stood beside her and held his hand out for her to take. She welcomed the feeling of the sparks traveling through her body making her forget she was ever cold at all.
"Bye Adam" she got up ignoring Xavier’s hand and walked over to kiss Adam’s cheek. "I will see you tomorrow," she smiled at him then took Xavier’s hand before she could even think much of it.
"Oh you're not getting rid of me now honey" Adam chuckled as she waved them off, "we are besties now," he then looked up at Xavier "sorry dude, you're just not cutting out for me anymore," and he turned back to fixing the movies back in the shelf.
