Dion POV
"Mate" My wolf happily called out and stirred inside me. I raised my brows and I chuckled mentally. Finally, I found my mate. My home and my everything.
“Is he still unconcious? It's been a few days. When will he be able to wake up?” I heard a voice of a worried woman. My chest wound began to burn like flames, and my head began to pound painfully. Damn this.
I pushed open the hand over mine, wobbling my fingers, eager to open my eyes. I sighed and rubbed my eyes to clear what I was seeing. But to no avail, it remained unchanged. There are filters and wobbling in everything. My hand reached for the people around, but it immediately dropped as it began to ache and wiggle. I groaned again and leant against the pillow. I traced my chest but someone picked up my hand and hold it away from it.
Whoever you are, you better be ran away after I regained my strength. I mentally thought, blinking my eyes.
“Dion! Are you all right? " my Beta, shockingly asked, and I was about to raise on my bed when I felt dizziness and I almost fell but thanks to his reflexes, he caught me. My vision is still playing tricks on me, blurring and barely opening my eyes.
My chest ached. Groaning, I undressed tossing the blanket on the floor, and tried to reach the oxygen by my side.
“Don't take that” my beta warned out loud. He was about to check it, but I pushed him again away from me. I growled a low tone to warn him.
"How come you're not healing?" he noticed as he dashed into the small cabinet to retrieve a medicine.
"I'll give you medicine," he said, turning the kit upside down so the contents fell on the couch near me.
"Give it to me," I said sternly, trying to maintain a steady but authoritative tone in my voice.
He set the kit down besides me, and I tried to open it with my hand. I tried looking through the small box of first aid supplies, but I couldn't make out anything.
"Dude, please allow me to assist you," he said vaguely as my ears started to ring loudly.
"Arghhhhhhh," I yelled restlessly, my head throbbing with pain. I tried pulling my hair to relieve the pain, but it didn't work.
After a while, I closed my eyes and felt my body begin to doze.
When I felt someone cutting my clothes and something cold touching my wound, I regained consciousness. I despise being touched! I despise contacts!
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" I yelled as I swept my hand across in front of me. I could feel various objects collapsing and scattering on the floor.
"Ariella," he said to someone, and I opened my eyes to see only a faint shadow gyrating in the air.
I need not ask for help!
"He came out of the woods, and then...," he sighed. "It's just a simple wound, why isn't it healing and making Dion lose ground in pain?" Ariella added in hushed tones.
I groaned and prepared to get up, but they stopped me and returned me to my bed. Who do they think they are to stand in my way?
I temporarily disabled the mindlink so that my pack members and other officials would not suspect or notice what was going on inside me. I don't want to cause them any trouble or concern. I am the son of the Alpha, and I won't be dead from that s**t arrow hits my chest intended to kill my mate.
My mate. I mentally mumbled and looked at Ariella. I felt sorry for using her but I can't love her. She's a mere human. A human. A low level creature.
"WHY ARE MY WOUNDS BURNING?!"
As a syringe was thrust into my shoulder, I groaned. I tried to break free from their grip on my body, but whoever was holding me seemed to have more power than I did...for the time being.
After a few minutes, sweat dripped from my brow as drowsiness crept in, but I still didn't want to sleep.
I am not going to sleep!
My body has grown accustomed to these sleeping injections, and I've mastered the art of resisting them.
"This wounds," the doctor said incoherently.
"What's the deal with his wounds, doctor?" Ariella asked curtly, while I closed my eyes and pretended the drug they injected had already taken effect.
“This is not ordinary. The arrow tip scratched the next Alpha's cheek are coated with poisonous ivy.,” he said as he injected liquid medicine into my chest. “—but who's going to harm Dion with an ivy growing from South?” the doctor added. My mind clouded with thoughts and anger started to filled my whole system.
“I don't understand anything, doctor; do you mean the person attacked Dion came from the South?” Kane asked, perplexed. I didn't know that he's also here. I didn't saw him earlier or my eyes tricked me again. It's impossible to cross borders from borders without being caught or killed especially the South to North borders. I understand why they are so puzzled about this.
“I only see these poisonous ivy from the ancient book because this only grows in one particular place in the Southland,” Doctor Izuko explained while I keep listening.
“And where's that?” Ariella curiously asked while they started to put bandage on my chest.
The doctor inhaled loudly. “The mountains of Wang Xuaxi..”
“You mean the territory of the cursed pack?" Someone gasped. “—the rumored cursed pack who became demons?”
“Tsss, stop believing gossips from outside!” the doctor preached. I still stayed listening while trying to slow down my breathing and make it calm as much as possible. Doctor Izuko seemed to pack his medical stuffs as I heard bottles clanging.
“They disappeared years ago...without knowing what truly happened. But a book recorded informations about them that I read when I went in the borders.” He zips his bag and continued. “It is said that cursedl pack are the strongest of all packs. Their Alpha are nearly to be declared as god.”
“Then how they are cursed if they are the strongest? That doesn't make sense.”
“It says that the Luna of their pack is Selene, the moon goddess. She fell in love to the cursed pack's Alpha Daesirus”
“W-what?! That's insane!”
“The heavenly God punished their pack because it's prohibited to make relationship with mortals. And they are vanished forever.”
“Then how come Goddess Selene is still immortal?” I couldn't help but say in response to their conversation. They turned at me with shocked expressions and bowed their head in courtesy. I remained my poker face at them.
“Don't say you'd been listening from the start?” my Beta asked, frowning. I didn't bother answering him, instead, I stared at doctor Izuko. The pain has subsided but the wound blackened.
“The book didn't mention about her punishment.” he replied shaking his head.
“Go. And bring back the antidote tomorrow morning or—” I stared at him dangerously. I saw him trembled in fear and bowed his head. He left without saying any words and I turned my sight to Ariella. I saw how he swallowed.
“I already linked our guards in the borders to increase vigilance, as well as those patrolling our pack territory,” my beta said, turning into a serious tone.
I just rolled my eyes and leaned back on the couch as he swallowed a little.
“Is there someone with me when you found me?” I snarled.
“Who do you expect, Dion? Do you have a secret girlfriend meeting there?” He joked around but it irritates me. My mate isn't just a random girl.
"Just shut up. You're acting like a lady. You talk too much and you should find your mate so you could stop," I remarked, giving him a sharp look as he raised his hand as if surrendering. "I'm gone love sick," I said nonchalantly.
“Don't you think she's capable enough to be our Luna?” my wolf weakly intervened, still trying to convince me to reclaim our mate.
"You can leave now," I said.
"Yes, Alpha Dion," my beta and Kane stammered, stepping back and lowering his head, clutching arm.
Is it because I was poisoned by her or is it because I rejected her making us both vulnerable and weak?
…….
“Alpha, the pack doctor arrived just like what you ordered,” one of my men said over the mind link.
"Let him in," I said, closing the folder I was perusing.
I gently rubbed my sinuses, being careful not to touch my wounds. My wolf is still weak and doesn't connect much. He's depressed because of what happened.
The door opened after three faint knocks, revealing the doctor who had been at my house the night before, carrying a folder.
"Begin," I say emphatically. I examined his obviously out-of-date body as I looked up at him.
I was irritated because he passively tried to swallow and remained silent for a few moments.
As I smashed the folder on my desk, he jumped slightly in fear and panic.
“I'm asking you a question! Where's the antidote?! " I screamed as I descended out of my seat. I screamed in rage as I ripped the paper from the folder and threw it away.
I snapped at him, my eyes narrowing once more. “Say it directly,” I ordered him once more out of frustration.
"I-I d-didn't sleep all night looking for an antidote, and I read a plethora of herbal books, but—"
“But what?!” I spit angrily as I elevated my two hands on the table and brought it back on my side forming a fist. I stared at the doctor, who resisted the stare, trembling and shaking his feet.
“I-I'm s-sorry Dion but books has no records about the antidote,” he added obstinately. My anger rises again seeing red. I took a deep breath.
“Unfortunately, the antidote has yet to be discovered by anyone other than their own pack. So, the only thing I can do for your wound is temporarily relieved aches and pains, but I still can't heal you. “ He added that frustrates me more.
"WHAT THE HECK! YOU'RE OUR DOCTOR, BUT YOU'RE NOT CAPABLE OF HEALING MY WOUNDS?! AND NOW YOU'RE SPITTING LIES AND CULTURAL GOSSIPS TO HIDE YOUR DUMBNESS AS A DOCTOR! " I accuse him.
"We have no choice but to capture or turn over whoever you met last night so we can get the medicine or method," he suggested, but I was simply jarred.
"How do you find a ghost that may or may not be dead?" I inquired sarcastically. My wolf growled in protest, but I failed not to be affected.
“What do you mean?” He was taken aback by the question. His expression looks shocked and angry at the same time but he immidiately fixed himself and cough a little.
“Whoever he or she is. That criminal was hit by my crossbow, which has the same poison he used to mw, and only a mystery can save him," I grumble as I pour wine into my cupboard and stir it silently, moving the glass and watching the liquid harmonic distortion in time with my movement of my hand.
“Dion, there's a woman here in the North border. She said she wants to negotiate something with you,” my Omega, reported through our mind link.
“I don't have time,” I said firmly.
“But, she said you'll die in a month. We captured her already after saying that.”
"Bring her right now!" " I exclaimed, distraught, my eyes darkening. Doctor Izuko jumped to his feet in fear, and I stared at him angrily. I motioned for him to leave.
"This doctor will comply," he agrees.
I sat back in my swivel chair, pouring wine into my glass.
We later heard footsteps and a knock on my door, but my wolf roared in delight. I was calmed down by the scent of wild flowers and honey. The smell penetrated my core as if it were sweet.
"Come in," the door handle moves, and the door swings open.
As the door opened, my heart almost jumped into my rib cage. My wolf trembles and shudders as we see a stunning beauty arrive.
She wears a white gown that reaches in her knees. Her shiny black hair was rippling at her back with a braided style both the side of her face tied at the back. Her long nose and rounded eyes are perfectly compliment her round shape face. I mentally hit myself from staring but one thing pops on my mind.
Mate.
