22 The limo moved forward, but Wesley was barely aware of the motion, barely aware of anything except the pain and the fatigue. Hunter had taxed him to his limits. Clearly he had underestimated the boy. He sat doubled over with his face in his hands, the seat belt digging into his belly. He didn't care. “Damn it!” Wesley whispered. “So close! I was so close!” He should have killed the boy's family – that had been his intended goal – but sheer dumb luck had allowed him to catch sight of young Hunter moving through the hallways, and he didn't really care about two middle-aged nobodies.
