Chapter 8: Daniella POV I swallowed the lump down my throat as I stared at the nurse, who couldn't hold her laughter as she laughed out hard, like I had just told her a joke. “Are you pregnant?” She must be sick in the head to be asking me such questions when I barely knew too. I lowered my head, as the lady earlier stood there, staring at me, her eyes flicking as she wished I was pregnant too, so she could feel some kind of proudness that she wasn't alone in this mess. My fingers twitched at each other, as I couldn't hold the tears that rolled down my cheeks, even though I hadn't checked or done the pregnancy test, but that was another reason to lay those painful tears; I had wished to for the complete two weeks. “Please, wait there for the pregnancy test or else you want to keep that.” The nurse chuckled as she pointed at the empty seat beside an aged lady, who stared at us, wondering what had made us go numb. I quickly fastened my legs onto the seat, as my back rested on the old chair, while I shunned my eyes, ignoring the voices, Professor Sexy Chest. Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jerked a little and turned to face the lady from earlier as she pointed at the nurse. “Miss.” Those were the only words I could recall till I reached the table, where the nurse stood there, chewing her gum, like the job she did had been forced on her or was just for boredom. “You have to do the pregnancy test. By the way, who's the father? “What?” I rolled my eyes in the air as she asked that damn question. Yes, but she was right; who could be the father? “Stretch your hand, Mommy.” A little embarrassment flew down my body as I heard her call me that. Like everyone wanted me to be in this mess, but that wouldn't have happened. As I stretched my hand over as she placed the rope on my wrist, a little gasp escaped my lips as the pain drove down my waist as she firmed the rope tightly and then stopped, pulled out a syringe, and re-drew a few drops of blood. I sat there feeling a little dizzy after the blood redraw. The moment I sighted the nurse approaching my direction. My heart seized a beat as I stared at her. Maybe I was pregnant? Or it's just some hormonal changes. I pinched my fingers, as a little blood oozed out a little. It was painful, but the pain wasn't compared to what awaits me. "Miss Daniella,” Her voice was barely a whisper, but she avoided eye contact. Something was wrong somewhere; I could sense it. “Yes?” I forwarded my hands, as she handed me the blue file before clearing her throat and then left, before I could utter any word. My fingers wrapped around the file as I opened it gently, spying on them, but that wasn't enough for me to glance at them. The more I did, the more my heart became unsteady. Sweat dripped down my throat as I sat there, fingers trembling from the anxiety I never wished to have. “No…not here, never.” I stood up, grabbed my handbag, and stumbled out of the hospital without looking back. It felt like I was turning away from my past, my pain, this world. The moment I dragged myself toward the bus stop, waiting for the bus to arrive. A little glance was all I needed, right? I stood there, legs folded, hands lifting the file as I stared at it. “Oh…My—” I stumbled onto the wall as my eyes blinked faster. The red line was shown on the pregnancy test. “Nah…how could it be? He was right, my boyfriend, her, everyone.” My vision swayed, and so did my whole body, went numb, as everybody spied on me. Maybe they thought I was crazy or some b***h waiting for her time to leave. A drop of rain fell on my hand as I held onto it. I took a deep breath, pulled back the rest, and entered the bus. “Watch out?” I felt my shoulder brushing as someone yelled at me; before walking inside the bus, I stood there, unable to make a move even though I wanted to. The third honk of the bus was already a good reason to drag my feet inside. I let out a huge gasp as I stared at my apartment building. The same old life but with a new one. I pushed my legs till I landed in my room and shunned the door as my body rolled down to the door and rested on it. Those tears I wished never came out flew uncontrollably. “How could I be?” “So restless, and now I have lost everything I worked for.” I buried my face in my thigh as I curled my legs, inhaling the fresh coconut scent of my perfume. His tongue. His chest. For a minute, I rose up and went into the shower. My hands rolled down my n*****s as tears rolled down my cheeks as I squeezed my body, letting the water wash over the shame I felt. I hate you… Gareth. You son of a b***h. I regret every meeting with you. I slammed the wall as I kept on yelling, screaming his name, over and over till I couldn't recognize my voice. My cracked voice echoed through the bathroom as I took a glare at my wounded fist, the sharp edges already oozing blood, as the pain drove down my spine. That was the moment I felt real pain. To be left out. I quickly stepped out of the bathroom, my hands already sore from the slamming as I rushed to my wardrobe. Grabbed my first aid box, grabbed the ointment, and began to treat my wound, as it tickled, but it was for the best. For a moment, I felt relieved, but… that wouldn't stop the life growing inside me.
