CHAPTER 9
Daniella POV
No matter what I did, my face was buried in the pillow, on my thighs, or by the window, but still, sleep never came.
I lay on my bed, my eyes fixed on the blue-peeled paint as tears rolled down my eyes the moment the thought of my whole future vanished, all because of it.
The little thing inside of me.
Maybe one day, it could be a boy or a girl.
I wiped off the tears from my cheeks as I shoved the thought out. Even though it was my reality, staring at the pregnancy file was already enough to make me tear up, but that… I couldn't bring myself to do that.
Minutes passed.
Hours passed.
My whole body went numb as I couldn't grab my body off the bed nor roll it out. Every vein inside felt cold, very cold, as I lay there, picturing what my burial could be like.
“Oh s**t!” I rolled off the bed as the lump almost split on the bed. I fastened my legs and rushed into the toilet, my face facing down as I held my hair as I threw up.
The more I did, the more I felt some kind of burned sensation. I couldn't feel my lungs anymore; they wished me to throw up more, but that…wouldn't happen.
The moment I was done, I rested on the toilet door while I took a deep breath, shutting my eyes and stopping those voices that told me I was already a mess, and truly I was.
Every drop of the tap pulled my heart to pounding as I took countless deep breaths till I could feel my veins pumping back to normal.
I headed toward the sink and let the tap water drip down my face as I washed away the nightmare that had begun. For a moment, I felt relieved, my blood pumping back and my skin resting for a bit.
I dragged my legs out of the toilet and then toward the kitchen. All through that day, I barely had anything, and that alone could have harmed the little me.
From the moment I stepped into the kitchen, I felt my whole body change. My throat itched; my nose bled. I prayed for mercy and held the wall, trying to stop myself from inhaling the fresh bread in the bread toaster.
I hated the smell, and even at my stage, I still hated it. A deep breath was all I needed before rushing over to the fridge and pulling out the bottle of water, sipping every bit of it till the bottle sounded cracked.
“What now?” I tugged my phone out of my pocket and glanced at the red numbers on my account balance.
“Not even a choice?” I muttered under my breath with a sigh and then headed toward the coffee maker.
“A cup of coffee wouldn't hurt, right?” I smirked after making the coffee, but only the moment I smelled it.
“Goossh…” I shifted my nose, stopping the awful smell of it. Each time I tried to inhale it, the more I couldn't feel my legs, and that wasn't of any help.
After I had dropped the coffee cup on the kitchen sink, I walked back to my room. I jumped on it, allowing my naked stomach to feel the warmth of my old bedsheets, the one Mom had bought for me years back.
“Miss Daniella?" I heard my name being called as I turned, only to find the nurse staring at me. Deep in thought, I pulled my legs up, as it was my turn to meet the doctor after hours of waiting and rethinking what I had done in the morning.
At the doctor's office, I took a deep breath before stepping in, as its scent of medicine made my belly crawl and my taste buds awful.
“Please have a seat." I stared at his office table, as his name was well written.
Mr. William.
“Thank you,” I tried to curl a smile even though my voice cracked as I pitched my finger, waiting for the results.
“You mentioned an abortion, right?” He raised his eyebrow, and I nodded.
“Alright, but that would be fine, but—” He took a deep breath, tapped the pen on the table, and then faced me.
“Doctor, what happened?” I couldn't breathe; the air suddenly became toxic for me to bear.
The more he stole glances at me, the more my belly shifted.
“I'm sorry, we can't perform the abortion.”
“Doctor… I can't; my whole life would be a mess if I don't.” Tears ran down; already the thought of having to be a single mom, without any income, was something I never wished for, nor should I.
“Your womb won't survive, and neither will you. I would advise you to keep the baby." I stared at the doctor as he pulled a smile; even though he wished to let me know, he felt pity too.
“Maybe…there might be something to do about it, right, Doctor?” I held his wrist as tears ran faster as my heart skipped a beat. The words kept roaming around my head, but that wouldn't help.
Just then, we heard a knock. As I exhaled deeply, it was a sign to leave. The last thing I recalled was grabbing my handbag and leaving the office.
“I need some cash; your uncle might help us, right?” I heard a voice the moment I stepped out; my jaw clenched down at the person in front of me.
“Now, you do doctors, right, slut!” I tightened my fist as I heard Freya laugh out hard, together with her friends, who pointed at me like I was some kind of trash.
I forced my way out of them as I ran faster than I could.
My life.
My academy.
It was all f****d up.
My legs fastened till I stopped outside the hospital and laid my back on the white painted wall while my whole life roamed around my mind.
What would I do?
As I shut my eyes, stopping all the thoughts, I felt someone closer to me.
“Leave me. You all!” I yelled but stopped the moment I lifted my head towards the person.
My whole body went numb.
The last person I could ever think of.
