Chapter 15 Kent's POV When I walked into school the next day, I knew that everyone had learned the truth. It wasn't as if I heard them say something or anything of that sort but the way they looked at me. The wonder and question in their eyes. My hands clenched beside me - there was only one person who could have told anyone. Freya. Even after I had warned her specifically to keep the truth away from anyone else, she had found herself blabbering of course. Annoyance coursed through me in sharp waves that turned slowly into anger. My only hope was that my students didn't try to annoy me. I looked at the crowd, their eyes on me, the most attentive I had ever seen them. “Today we're going to learn statistics and the impact on the modern day research world" I dropped the book on the desk and turned towards the board. Behind me, I heard the whispers begin. “He's so f*****g hot. Freya is lucky that she gets to call that man her husband" a feminine voice. “Oh please, not her husband yet, not if I somehow get to him. I mean she's a student and I'm one, what is the difference?" I turned back sharply, my eyes searching for who had said the words. My eyes landed on the two girls closest to me, one with a clearly red and guilty face. The anger inside me had festered even more. “Both of you stand up and get out of my class" “But-" they began. “Now!" I shouted, my voice echoing in the silent class. I gestured towards the door and watched as they left. Once they had gone, I faced the class. “The next voice i hear will lose as many marks in this test as I please" Murmurs began but I didn't let it stay long. "Tear a sheet of paper, no more class for today. Let's do a little test and see how much everyone is learning or if you've been in school to gossip all day long” I kept my voice cold, trying to push the anger from showing. Somehow, classes went by as slowly as they could until it was time for lunch. At least I didn't have to eat near the students or else I would have to hear all the rubbish they would tell me. Mason and I sat together. "So you're engaged now?” He shook his head and took a bite of his food. "I can't believe it” I sighed, shifting the contents on my plate around. "I can't believe it either.” There was a bitter taste in my mouth as that reality hit too hard. "What do you mean I'm engaged to be married to her of all people?” He raised a brow, "Come on, she's sexy as f**k. Have you seen that chest of hers? I'm a little jealous of you” When I opened my mouth to respond, it wasn't her chest I saw. It was Daniella's. Hers weren't exactly huge but they had fit my hands perfectly. Images of how hard I had squeezed and sucked them flashed in my brain. “f**k" i muttered. Mason looked at me with a question in his eyes, “What is it?" He looked around him, "Are you imagining f*****g them?” I gave him a disgusted look, brows screwed together, "No man, Jesus. Let's stop talking about it” One of the other lecturers passed by then, Mrs Kate. She smiled at both of us, "Congratulations Professor Kent, you can't imagine my surprise when I heard the good news” The woman beside her, her friend that I had seen a few times joined her then, "I couldn't believe it either. We all thought he would never get married. Congratulations Professor Kent, happy married life" “I'm not married-" the sight of her cut me short. At the door, Freya stood. Students weren't usually allowed into the room unless authorized. I stood up slowly, wondering why she was here. She had disobeyed me the first time, now she was here to spread another rumor. “I'll meet you in my office" I told Mason before walking away without a second glance. When I reached her, she opened her mouth to talk but before she could, I took her hand and began to drag her away. "Don't say anything” I warned her with a harsh whisper, rushing to my office before anyone else saw us. Inside, she stared up at me with her green eyes. "Kent, why did you drag me that way?” I raised a brow, "It's professor Kent to you” I told her. She shrugged, "I can't call you that when you're about to be my husband” she stepped closer to me, the smell of her perfume sneaking it's way into my nose. "We can't be on official terms” "When we are in school then we must remain in official terms” that wasn't why I had wanted to see her anyway. "Tell me, why did you go ahead and share the news when I warned you not to? Everyone knows we're engaged and I wasn't the one to tell them” She looked away, finally breaking eye contact. "I'm sorry, I couldn't stop myself from telling friends, they told everyone not me” her voice was small and apologetic. Even with that, somehow I knew that she wasn't being honest. She had intended to tell them. Even though I didn't know Freya on a personal level, she was a student in my college. I had heard the rumors about her and so I knew what she was capable of. "I just can't help myself when it comes to you” her hands dropped on my chest, over the unbuttoned shirt. My eyes flicked down in surprise and then back to her. Her eyes had darkened, hands trailed down my shirt towards my pants. "Can you?" Daniella's POV School had been hell that day. Everyone already knew the truth and somehow, eyes still remained on me. As I passed the lockers for mine, I heard a voice, low but loud enough for me to hear it clearly. "It's the w***e, has somebody told her that she didn't f**k him good enough for him to choose her?” A set of giggles. Another feminine voice, "I don't think she cares anyway. All she wanted his d**k, she's not worth anything else. She would have trapped him in a boring marriage” "She's way too ugly to date someone as handsome as Professor Kent,” another voice added. Bile rose in my throat as I rushed into my first class of the day. I didn't want to hear anymore. I was sure that if I did, I would fall physically ill and I didn't want that. Thankfully, morning sickness and all that came with pregnancy hadn't begun. There was no need to start it now. The day continued like that, the whispers didn't stop and neither did the looks. When lunch came, I took my food and went into the library instead. There was a corner for people to eat and I was grateful that it was empty. I sat there until I had finished eating and then I cleaned my hands and stood up. It was time to do the one thing I had been avoiding all day. Professor Kent. Rayne had just reminded me of a fact I already knew. I had to find a way to tell him the truth. He had to know that I was carrying his child at least first before anything else. If he refused after that then at least I would know I had tried. The only thing I didn't want to happen was for Freya or Gareth to find out. If they did then I would never live another day of peace without being mocked. It would be even worse than this, ten times worse. Despite my nervousness, I walked to his office and stopped at the door. I stopped when I heard voices, not entirely loud but clear enough for me to hear everything. Immediately she spoke, I knew who it was, the shrill voice would always be familiar to me, it had been the ghost in my nightmares. “You keep trying to deny what we share but I won't let that happen" there were footsteps on the tiles, I wasn't sure who it was. "You're mine and I'm yours, you'd better start using me like that is the truth” He said something low, I wasn't sure what, "You know…I'm not even…. I don't even know why…" Silence and then she spoke again. “You haven't even given it a chance at all for you to say this. If you had then you would see the truth or are you too hung up on that b***h to try it with me?" Her voice had turned mocking. “Or maybe you want it to be tried on with her? You'd prefer her, wouldn't it?" I felt a sting I couldn't explain. He wasn't even trying to defend me himself. I wanted to defend myself but then he spoke. “This isn't about Daniella and it never will. I'm not talking about. You're here for a reason and we know that” there was a small silence and then I heard it. The sound of something wet finding each other. My eyes widened as I heard the kiss progress. I could hear it clearly, they were kissing. My chest fell tight the longer I waited. It didn't matter at all whatever happened, I heard it loud as day. Then there was a small shuffle, a small and harsh whisper although I didn't hear the words from him. It was then that I heard footsteps coming towards me. Before either of them could reach me, I pushed myself into one of the half closed doors and waited. It wasn't Freya that came out but Professor Kent instead. “I'll be back"
