Chapter 14 Daniella's POV I looked away, unable to hold her gaze any longer due to the shame. After all being pregnant right now wasn't exactly something to be proud of, especially not with Professor Kent. Now I wondered how she would react to that. She stopped what she had been doing and stepped closer to me, “Dani? You're pregnant?" Her eyes fell to my still flat belly and back up at me. “This is some prank right? Like you wanted to do before?" I shook my head slowly, hating that it wasn't a prank this time. “I really wished it were a prank Rayne. I'm pregnant, two weeks pregnant" She raised a hand as if to stop me from saying anything else. “So you're telling me you've known for two weeks and didn't tell me? Shouldn't I have been the first person you called? Why exactly am I your best friend them?" She wasn't done, “Is it that Gareth? Did he reject responsibility? Is that why you both aren't working out? You know I could easily fix that right?" She seemed genuine and I knew if I agreed, she would do it in a flash. Still I refused to lie and there wasn't any need to anyway. “It's not him. I didn't find out two weeks ago anyway. I found about two days ago. I haven't had time to deal with that reality" I took her hand and led her to the chairs. She sat down opposite me, holding my hand still. After a brief awkward silence, she spoke, "So if he isn't the father then who is he?” That question led to the more complicated part of the story. I wasn't exactly sure how to tell her or go about it. It seemed she just wanted to know, there wasn't any difference in the way she looked at me but even then, I didn't want to tell her. Rayne must have noticed how I got, "Let's start from the beginning. Why exactly haven't you prepared yourself for an abortion? Are you planning to keep the baby for yourself?” She asked. At least that question had an easier answer. Not easier because it was better but at least it wasn't as complicated. “I can't get an abortion" She opened her mouth to talk but I spoke before she could, “It's health complications" then I explained what the doctor had told me, telling her why I couldn't have an abortion. When I finished, she stared at me, shaking her head in disbelief. “Wow" was all she said for a while. We both sat in silence, looking at each other. Her light eyes were full of concern and questions, all of which I would eventually answer. I just wanted the information she already had to sink in first. Finally, she let out a breath of air, “Tell me everything" was all she said. Now that I was ready, I began to narrate everything to her. I started from my relationship with Gareth. Then to how he had manipulated so easily into getting me to Professor Kent's house. “Wait, what the f**k?” She said in a small voice, "Your professor?” Then a small smile spread across her face, "You're so freaked out. You were getting f****d by your professor?” The smirk on her face was mischievous. I rolled my eyes, the images flashing for a second. His hands on my waist as he slid into me. The words he whispered while he made me sing his name. Before I got lost in those memories, I shook them away. "I'm not done" I said, stopping her from going any further. She stopped and sat back, listening intently again and I continued from there on. I told her about the way he had proceeded to pay me the next morning but only because Gareth had sent me these as some sort of w***e for money. “I can't believe it" she shook her head but said nothing else. “Then Saturday evening, I heard something in the pharmacy that caused me to get a pregnancy test. Two lines" I dropped my head as the shock of the result washed over me again. It still felt like it was happening to someone else and not me. She didn't interrupt me, allowing me continue peacefully. The next part was somehow the most difficult part of it. The one I didn't want to happen. “When I went to college to tell him yesterday, I found out he got engaged to her" She raised a brow in question, “Who?" “Freya Miller" the name felt like sand in my mouth, “The girl I found Gareth f*****g" Her mouth fell open in shock, “So you're saying this b***h not only stole your boyfriend but the father of your baby as well?" The question seemed surprisingly fitting for the situation and funny as well. I couldn't help myself when I burst out laughing. My hands found the arm of the chair to stop myself from falling off. “Rayne, what the f**k" She smiled, “No, seriously you know" The laugh faded away and reality came back almost immediately. I sighed, "It was all my fault. I should have left as soon as I saw the look in his eyes. I saw it all, I knew it wasn't for dinner.” Not with the way he looked at me. Still, a huge part of me knew for a fact that even if I tried and went back to that day, I wouldn't have gone. I'd have stood there and let him f**k me over and over again until we were both satisfied. It was something about him. Rayne must have read me because she made a clicking sound with her tongue, “You're down bad for him" I snapped out of it, “There's no way, I don't even know him asides his name and his nakedness" how big his d**k is. She didn't argue but I could see that she wasn't fooled “so what do you plan to do now because if you can't get rid of the baby then he needs to know eventually. Unfortunately, even I wouldn't support keeping that knowledge from him” My head bobbed up and down unconsciously. She was right, it wasn't just for myself. It was for the child and for professor Kent to have a choice at least. My soul wouldn't be at peace of I didn't tell him. "I will tell him. It's just learning that news today…” I trailed off. Her eyes rounded into a soft look, "I know baby” "But I'll tell him for sure tomorrow. I don't think there's ever a time that will be perfect to tell him” although the words were more encouragement to myself than just the truth. She stood up from where she had been sitting, "For now though I think it's best we eat. We can't have you starving especially with..” she paused, looking at me as if searching for something. "A baby” maybe she found it. "We'd better” I stood up and we went back to the kitchen. "Food is life”
