Chapter 1: Vampire Prince

1307 Words
I heard some footsteps from behind, and I instantly opened my case, bringing out a silver metal spear with accented big silver diamonds on the tip. I turned and kicked at him, my hand wavering the post lights to give us much more light. I held up my lance, the tip of it perfectly pointing unto his porcelain cheeks, but not enough to pierce him thoroughly. The cold air didn't even help to lessen the tension between us, even though I made all of the post lights of this road turn bright one by one, at least, revealing his features and his face would be seen. I stared at him, eye to eye, trying to intimidate him from his place, but he seems entirely calm than I am. He shows a lack of emotion from his blue orbs, not showing anything besides the fact that I know he doesn't seem to care, at all. “You're not a werewolf, aren't you.” I stepped my foot forward, carefully not to jab his skin by the tip of the lance that I'm holding with both hands, “I don't even sense an aura from you.” He rolled his eyes, which made me even confused, “What makes you think I am not a werewolf?” he crossed his arms and stared at me, “Aside from not having a strong aura of domination or softness, defected one?” Defected one? What is this sassy creature even talk about? “Why? Cat got your tongue?” I gasped as I saw him flashing his irking smirk in front of me. “Just—” I instantly placed the pointy lance into his chest, and he only just looked at it before he raised his gaze to me, “Just what in the world are you? And what are you doing in our world? Are you even a demon? A siren? A goblin?” “Ah...” His veiny hand tried to press the tip of the lance even more on his chest than moving it away. How could he even be so confident in holding my lance without worrying about himself? “I believe it's your first time encountering a non-existing kind. Am I right, defected one?” I felt his palm on my head gently patting me as if I'm a little kid. At first, I, don't want to believe that his kind still exists. I only know that the werewolves killed them all. Their kind is a werewolves' dilemma, and I still don't get it. The legend and Alpha Meredith's book says that the werewolves conquered against them, and all of their kinds banished. But why... Why is this vampire in front of me still lives in this modern society? He even lowered my silver lance off from his chest down to his legs instead, “The legend that you taught on your academy didn't tell you the whole story. Meredith, your –he airs quoted– "savior" didn't even mention half of the truth from the book that she wrote before she died.” He looked at the lance once more before staring into my eyes again, “And I am immune to silvers, thank you very much.” he even giggles and beams a smile like never happened! How did he even manage to be calm just as if he's taking out an order on Starbucks? With that annoying smile of his... But he is still a vampire! And he can even read minds! “Sorry if I do, I was born with telepathy, and yeah. I am cute, you too.” and he even winked at me, which made me raise my lance again, but now I placed it on the middle of his thighs which made him raise a brow. He's all being too cocky. “Stop reading my mind! Or else this thing of yours will be cut by my lance, you sassy sneaky vampire.” “Okay hold on, hold on!” his eyes lowered to the lance, chuckling nervously, “Don't be so ridiculous I don't even have vamp children yet—” “Quit playing that damn mind-reading of yours into me!” “Come on, cool your head for a second—” “How can I if you're gonna keep doing it? Just stop reading my mind you porcelain blood-sucking monster!” “I will if you will just put down the Divine Lance of yours for a minute!” He yelled, and in a second, a strong gust of wind blew me away, even my lance flew away from my grasp. As soon as I tried to reach it out from the strong wind, I stumbled from my place and the lance landed perfectly unto his palm. “And then we will talk on how did I still exist after the War of Flames. Mind if you just be calm and lower your madness for awhile? Jeez... Werewolves and their warm instincts.” He ticks his tongue and he twirled the lance before he throws it straight up in the air. It was not a normal occurrence, nor I didn't even know that he can control my lance! Is he trying to erase my ownership of my lance? Not in a damn way he can erase that, it was meant for me. And not for him. “Relax, I'm not. Just watch and learn how to use this powerful lance of yours, sweetie.” I looked unto him before I switched my gaze on the lance that stood up perfectly in the air. He lifted his arms, his hands leveling his chest, creating a soft red orb between his palms, an energy that he generated from his powers. And in a split second, he throws the small ball of energy into the handlebar of the lance. Which resulted in creating a big orb of a red shield. He cages us both inside the shield, which made me worried about the fact that I don't even know him. He might use me for his sole purposes or even a possible hostage! “Under the majestic half-moon of the Caspian Highlands, and with all of the elements watching me in this awakening...” He closes his eyes for a brief second before he opens them again, showing off his blood-colored eyes, “I, Devon Filosoir, commands the Divine Lance to protect me and this defected werewolf from any harm, and appear us like a mist of the wind!” Within every word he utters, he gives me chills. The authority laced in his voice didn't help me either. I stepped back, clutching my hands on my chest as I can feel his strong dominion over the elements that he called. Is... Is this him? It can't be him! All of the creatures knew him as the cruel vampire, and that he was dead at the hands of the known female Alpha. But how come that he's still alive? It couldn't be! The werewolves' frightening enemy has risen again! His blood-colored orbs struck by mine, and with every second that we're staring, I feel getting weaker and weaker. But I tried to stand up properly, showing no signs of giving up on this powerful vampire. He walked towards me, with all ease and strong domination from his powers. The red mists are trailing him from behind, and his black coat flowing gracefully under his knees. He isn't even snickering or teasing me, rather, I can feel his hidden sympathy towards me. Devon lifted my hand, kissing the back of my palm before he held both of my hands. “Don't worry, I'll fix your broken inner wolf for you.” I nodded and instantly huffed as he carried me on his back, “But for the meantime, you have to rest. We will talk after you feel better. The lance ate your energy too much that you feel even weak with my glances.” He added with his gentle voice before my vision slowly becomes black. “Let's get you home, the special kid of Heartlocke.”
