“She’s gone.”
“What do you mean gone?” another voice hissed. “The Alpha himself gave orders that she’s to remain in the dungeon."
The silence that followed was heavy, almost suffocating. I could hear them, though I lay in an open field.
I awoke shivering, my cheek pressed against damp grass. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and smoke, and my body ached with a heaviness I couldn’t explain. I didn’t remember moving, let alone breaking these chains and escaping from the dungeon.
There was no one around, but the voices felt so close. What was happening to me?
