Chris’s POV
Rae is twirling around in the yard, enjoying the warmth of the sun, when I feel a sudden presence come up behind me. I spin around and see Toby coming at me. I glance at Rae, to ensure that she doesn’t see us, and I walk towards Toby.
I brace for the fight that I know is coming. I’ve heard the rumors and it hurts that she’s the target. I’m not sorry for what I’ve done. I love Rae and, according to her wolf, I am her mate. I get to have her, too. I don’t know what I will do if she decides to leave, though.
The other thing that has been plaguing me, lately, is that I’ve been feeling a presence around us. There is no one ever there but it feels threatening. I am hoping to be able to talk to Toby about it, so he can help guard her but it doesn’t look like that is what he wants t
