“That’s it… And I can finally enjoy my wife,” he said, wrapping his arms around my mother. I let out a soft laugh, and she smiled at him.
“Great, I love seeing you two happy,” I said, and their laughter warmed my heart. I turned and headed upstairs.
I texted Thais, asking what she was up to. She replied that she was helping Aunt Sther take care of Uncle DJ, who had taken a break from the street hustle. It seems the older folks are stepping away to enjoy the family they’ve built, and I think that’s wonderful.
