CHAPTER EIGHT Elias blew into the white foam blob on his arm. “Mama, what are bubbles made from?” “Soap and water.” Petra sat on the floor by the bathtub and blew into a wand dipped in soap solution. Big colourful spheres saturated the bathroom. “This soap is sticky and yucky.” He grabbed at a big bubble floating above the faucet. “Bubbles are light. They fly, mama.” “That’s because they’re full of air.” She pulled the plug. “Bubbles don’t fly, Elias. They float.” She held a bath towel out for him. “Come on. Bath time is over.” Elias got to his feet, froth stuck to his legs from the knees down. “How does air go inside them, mama?” She used his Spiderman cup to wash his legs, wrapped him with the towel, and carried him out of the tub. “Didn’t you know?” “What, mama?” She rubbed him
