I continued to run as lots of men chased after me, the road looked empty but I believe if I ran far enough then I would get to a busy road. I didn't realize I was running barefooted until I felt a piercing pain up my brain, I had stepped on a shreds of glass. I quickly pulled out the ones I could, making it start to bleed profusely, but that was the least of my concern right now. I got to an intersection and I didn't think it through before taking my left. My leg was aching badly but I couldn't bring myself to stop running as I felt my tears go dry on my face. As I pushed myself to keep going, the world around me became a blur of colors and sounds. Sweat drenched my body, mixing with the tears that streamed down my face. The ache in my leg threatened to bring me down, but sheer determination propelled me forward. With every breath, I felt a surge of energy coursing through me - an unwavering resolve not to give up. With every gasping breath tearing through my lungs, My heart pounded in my chest as the men closed in on me, their shouts echoing in the distance. The road stretched out endlessly before me, an empty path promising freedom. I knew that if I could just run far enough, I would reach a busy street where help awaited, so I continued to run with blood trailing after me. Barefoot and breathless. The sound of pounding footsteps echoed behind me as adrenaline coursed through my veins. I felt it closer and it made me ignore my burning lungs as I came to the end of the road. I suddenly sighted a small abandoned house, rushing towards it, checking to make sure the men had not seen me, I pushed open the creaking door, gasping for breath, and stumbled into the dimly lit interior. The musty scent of abandonment filled my nostrils as I leaned against a dusty wall. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to regain my composure. The house seemed deserted, but I couldn't be sure if it was safe. Desperation drove me to enter nevertheless. With each step inside the abandoned house, the floorboards groaned under my weight. I raised a dusty blanket before using it to cover myself as I hid behind an old sofa that had patches. The pain in my leg suddenly increased as I sat to look at it, the wound was irritated and the bleeding had stopped but it probably had death within its closed face. Fatigue weighed down on me as I tried to steady my breath, I had never ran like this in my life. I don't know for how long I stayed there but soon enough, sleep took over me and by the time I had woken up, it was very late at night, I would've passed the night there but I couldn't risk it because by morning, they would properly go all out to find me. Now was the best chance to find a busy road and escape this place. With my injured foot, I limped my way out of the house, to an unknown destination. I wasn't familiar with this place and for all I knew there could be danger lurking out here. Every step I took was filled with caution and uncertainty. The darkness of the night swallowed me whole, making it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead. The pain in my leg intensified with each limp, but I couldn't let that stop me. I had come too far to give up now. In this unfamiliar territory, every shadow seemed like a potential threat lurking in the darkness. But determination fueled my steps forward. A faint glimmer of hope shone through as the sound of cars grew louder and closer - a sign that civilization was near. As I hobbled along the desolate streets, towards the busy road, the sound of distant sirens caught my attention from behind Panic surged within me as I realized they must be searching for me. My heart raced as I quickened my pace, ignoring the searing pain shooting up my leg. Thoughts of escape consumed my mind, pushing away any doubts or fears that threatened to surface. Tears started to fall down my face as I tried to walk faster but the pain was starting to become unbearable as my legs gave out, making my scrape my knee. I sat there for a while but quickly got up when the siren got closer, I had to reach the busy road before they got to me, so with all the strength I had left, I broke out in a run. "There she is." I heard a voice yell as cars started to speed towards me. "Please, please, please." I mumbled as I internally pleaded with my legs not to give up on me. The cars got closer and I looked back to see two police cars and two other black ones. They slowed down when they got closer to me and I knew my steps were getting slower as they caught up with me. "Priscilla stop right now." I heard Alfonso's voice but I ignored it as I put more speed. "Leave me alone." I cried as I continued to run. "I order you to stop now." He yelled this time around but I was so close to the road now that I couldn't bring myself to ever stop. Just when I got to the road, and happiness burst through my veins, it all happened so fast that the only thing I heard was Alfonso's voice, shouting Priscilla and the next thing I know, I felt air knocked out of me and my body suspended in the air before It hit the surface of a hard object and the last thing I remember was people running towards me as my vision blurred and my tired body gave up on me.
